Flashing Lights | (Obselete) How to mod on MacOS
By BaiJie90
This guide will teach you on how to get your custom skins in-game for MacOS users since UABE (Unity Assets Bundle Extractor) doesn't support MacOS! This guide is written for MacOS users.

OFFICIAL MODDING SUPPORT
At last Flashing Lights introduced the option to download textures via mod.io. With this in mind this guide has gone a bit obsolete, this guide will only serve for the people that still want to mod using this method.

Disclaimer
Since I (the guy that has written this guide) has never touched a computer with MacOS on it, I cannot guarantee that this method works.
I've only gathered experience with experimenting with users that tried to install mods on a MacOS computer.
Some users have reported that this method sometimes works and sometimes doesn't work so once again success is not guaranteed!

SUCCESS IS NOT GUARANTEED!
The method
The method we are using requires a computer with Windows installed.

Explained briefly:
First you need to copy over the needed file(s) over to an USB and transfer the USB over to a computer with Windows installed on it. Afterwards you can use the normal method for installing mods using a Windows computer. At last you will be copying the modded file(s) you made on the Windows computer back to your USB and transfer the modded file(s) over to your computer with MacOS on it and replace the existing file.

You can also use something like Google Drive or Dropbox etc. to transfer your file(s).

Explained in pictures:
Copying over the needed file(s) from MacOS to a Windows PC

Copying the modded file(s) from the Windows PC back to your MacOS PC
Step 1 | Finding the needed files
I want you to first find your Flashing Lights root folder.

If you can't find your root folder then:
Steam Library > Flashing Lights > Right click, select properties > Local files tab > Browse local files

After you've found your root folder, there should be something with a Flashing Lights icon. Right click on the Flashing Lights icon and there should be an option Show more contents or something similar.

This is what you should be seeing after you've clicked Show more contents.

Open up the Contents folder and you should be seeing this afterwards.

Then open up the Resources folder, you should be seeing this after clicking.

Then open up the Data folder, in the Data folder are the FILES THAT ARE NEEDED.
Step 2 | Copy the needed files

In this folder I want you to copy over the needed files. (In most cases it will be the resources.assets file that is needed.)

You should be copying the file(s) over to an USB with enough space. (I think an USB with atleast 1 GB space will do.)
You can also use something like Google Drive or Dropbox etc. to transfer your file(s).

If you are not sure which file you need, please leave a comment down below with which mod(s) you want to install. Or you can just copy the whole "Data" folder over.
Step 3 | Modding on the Windows part
After following steps 1 and 2 you can now follow the following guide since you are now on a Windows PC.
BE ADVISED: FILE LOCATIONS WILL BE DIFFERENT FOR YOU, SINCE YOU HAVE THE FILES ON YOUR USB!

https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1411062152
Step 4 | Replacing the existing file with the modded one
After you've created the modded file on the Windows machine you can transfer the file(s) back to your MacOS machine.

Then you need to go back to your Flashing Lights root folder and back into the Data folder.
Contents > Resources > Data
Scroll back to Step 1 on how to find it again if you've lost it.

In the Data folder you replace the existing file(s) with the modded file(s) from you USB or Google Drive, Dropbox etc.

@JohnLocker, If browsing in the local files via the Steam Library doesn't find it then there is a problem. I cannot help you with that since it is a problem beyond my reach.

I believe so I am not really good at these mod installations, but I am sure I don't have this file.

@JohnLocker, Well if Steam cannot even find it then there is a problem at your end. I cannot really help you with that. Are you sure you have the game correctly installed or are you looking in the correct drive if you have multiple drives?

Sorry i meant root. I can't find my root file for the backup in the steam local files from the library and also from the steam-program86x etc files. If that makes sense.

@JohnLocker, Are you in the Flashing Lights root folder?
