wooden platform about 10 blocks above. Grapple between the platforms if possible to keep distance. Then place some campfires to increase life regeneration, and if you're a mage or summoner, use a star in a bottle too.

Like Ranger tips, it's best if you keep a distance back and then use Zapinator or Gem Staves.
If you can make it into the Corruption/Crimson and break a few orbs, they may be really beneficial in the fight.
With the crimson rod, place it right over King Slime for a higher damage and stay under it for as long as possible for more damage.
Vilethorn can be used to quickly take out hordes of Slimes, and does decent damage against him but requires a closer range.

For summoner, you're going to have to get a slight bit close for your summons and be able to do whip damage.
Whips can take out a lot of slimes due to their attack type, use this to your advantage.

King Slime's AI
_______________

King slime normally just bounces around in your direction spawning in Blue Slimes. In expert, he will spawn Spiked Slimes which are able to shoot deadly spike, like Spiked Jungle Slimes.

If he ever gets stuck or is too far, he will teleport inside of you, giving you a roughly 3 second period to dodge.

The Eye Of Cthulhu is The first Boss In Terraria.

Phase 1

He does 15 DMG in Normal, 30 Dmg in Expert, and 45 DMG in Master.
*Armors will decrease these numbers, so they may not happen every time.

He has 2,800 HP in Normal Mode 3,640 HP in Expert Mode 4,641 HP in Master Mode
*The more players there are, the higher the health will scale.

He has 12 Defense

He is fully resistant to Knockback, and immune to a single debuff, Confusion.

In Phase 1 he floats directly above you spawning 3-4 Servants of Cthulhu serveral times during the fight, upon killing them they will drop hearts and stars to boost you during your fight. Afterwards, he begins to slowly charge at you 3 times. When he reaches 50% HP or below in Normal and 65% HP or below in Expert he will spin and begin to transform into his second form.

Phase 2

He Does 23 Dmg In Normal mode And in expert he does 36 Dmg. The lower HP he gets, the extra damage he gets too.

He has no defense

He is fully immune to Knockback, and immune to a single debuff, Confusion

He will ram at you more aggressively in normal mode, and try to stay near you more often.

In Expert, upon transformation he will spawn 4-5 Servants and during the majority of Phase 2 gains an insanely fast dash attack. The dashes become more rapid as his HP decreases.
