Alaska High Energy Research Complex (AHERC)

Located somewhere around Umiat, Alaska, the Alaska High Energy Research Complex was created to test new military technologies in an isolated and private environment. Thought to be abandoned in the 1980s, legends persisted of fantastical technologies, and rumors of a moon base. Seeing a chance to strike it rich with the papers, you set out to find the AHERC- and amazingly, you do! But it seems that the facility has been boarded up as though to keep someone out, or perhaps something in? Either way, the lights still shine, and you wonder if making your way inside is the best idea...

Personal note:

While I've had a ton of maps in development, this map stuck around, outlasting all of the other ideas which floated around in my mind, and in the folders of my desktop, for quite some time. The inspiration for the map came from the hilariously absurd rumors that most people from the lower 48 have in regards to Alaska's HAARP facility (look up the stories, people will say anything for online fame!).

The map itself is broken up into multiple sections with different visual styles, ranging from the cold and discomforting shacks on the surface, to the depths of the facility, rusted over and powerless. The map also features teleport mechanisms which are only able to be used after powering up the primary teleport (the one in the large testing chamber!).

I hope you all enjoy this map! It certainly isn't my first, but I think it is one of the first to reach a more "polished" state, now featuring textures and proper lighting!
