Magellan IIb - Titan II

Description
This here is the Magellan IIb Spaceplane, stuck to the top of a Titan II SRB. To put it simple, this hunk of junk can get one kerbonaut into LKO in a jiffy. Added to that is a docking port, so you can dock with anything you want. Space station? You've got it! Satellite that somehow has a docking port on it? Here you go! Docking with itself? Have at it!

If you're trying to figure out the best way to get this to orbit, I would recommend flying at a 20-degree AoA. With 2,000+ kN of thrust, you're sure to reach space in no time. This should get you to an altitude that's suitable for a circularization burn. The problem, however, is that the spacecraft tends to get overheated on the way up. I've put radiators both on the plane and on the booster to counter this (I honestly have no idea if it really helps or not, but it's better than nothing). If you go higher than 20-degrees, you'll start to feel the space plane suddenly having the uncontrollable urge to tumble all over the place. If you go lower, you'll either burn up, or reach the halfway point to the next continent.

Word of warning, when you're using the main engines on the Magellan, it has a tendency to fly down. I'm not sure what's causing it seeing as how I've placed them at the center line of the craft.

Now, you may be asking "why strap a big booster on the bottom of a plane and launch it from the runway?" Simple, I got too frustrated getting the darn thing to fly from the launchpad space-shuttle-style that I eventually just did whatever it took to get it up there (except for debug menu that is).

That being said, Happy Flying!
