The purpose of this guide is to assist in managing possible food shortages.

Dishes include items prepared into a dish or cooked on the campfire.
To store dishes in a cookpot you need either 1 catering bucket or 1 sealed container.
I'll include the nourishment from one completed meal and one full catering bucket
I wont be includng full sealed containers but they serve the same purpose with storing food.
1 Sealed Container can store 50 FlOz units / 1 Catering Bucket can store 350 FlOz units

Dishes (Stew and Curry)
Stew and curry can be cooked veggie, meaty, cannibalism and infected style.
  • Veggie: Only has the vegetables in it.
  • Meaty: Has 1 Skinned Rabbit mixed in it. Identical amount of food as Cannibalism style.
  • Cannibalism: Has 1 Human Meat mixed in. Identical amount of food as Meaty style.
  • Infected: Identical to Cannibalism except the Meat is infected. Dish can infect people.
Its main ingredients are the vegetables, there exist 3 possible vegetable combinations.
  • Variant 1: 1 Cabbage 2 Carrots
  • Variant 2: 1 Cabbage 2 Boiled Corn
  • Variant 3: 1 Pumpkin 2 Beets
The recipes with Carrots produce less food then the other two recipes.
Recipes with Variant 2 and Variant 3 produce equal amount of food.
I will only include the carrots combination in the recipes to reduce text.
The total amount of food gained from the corn and beet combination will be included.
The Curry recipe is identical to Stew with Chilli Pepper mixed in.

Author Notes
I got the food/day by having 2 survivors and checking the community list.
I uploaded this guide prematurely to have an easier time copy pasting some some numbers.
There exist errors in how to acquire some items. Will correct them once i investigated merchants.
Will update in the future.

Maybe a tad late to the party. but skinning people and zombies adds a little cooking skill so if you need to get to level one you can skin every zombie you fight, should be good by 30 or so bodies

You can request survivors of other settlements to skin the rabbit for you. At the cost of 1 gold per rabbit.

Skinned rabbits can be cooked with 0 cooking skills so you would eventually reach level 1.

Oof i missed this question. To answer, uncooked corn results in less food. in comparison. 2 boiled corn, + cabbage + chilli = 75 FlOz
2 raw corn + cabbage + chilli = 50 FlOz

Currently doing some winter stockpile calculations and ended up seeing the question.
Going to revise the guide a bit because i prefer corn curry over carrot curry and i keep on having to look up my notes instead of the guide.

So it appears as if we are well advised to forbid our chefs the use of carrots and to farm them only for the rabbit traps! That is interesting. I might as well forbid them to use beet roots for anything else than sugar.
Can you confirm that only cooked corn is usable in stews and curries? It does not seem logical to me, but if it is so, I will assign another chef to cook corn of course...

TIL that you can gift stew and curry to NPCs (their reactions depend on if they like bland or spicy food,) and that according to this guide tainted meat will cross over to the dish you use it in. If you want to pull something sneaky, try giving tainted dishes to people you plan on going to war with if you end up with someone being unfortunate enough to be bitten and die or turn before they're treated, and then watch as they eat it and then their friends next.

@ Red .... re: Restrict Access ... v85 update allows for setting zones and restricting food, however, the cook needs "access" (can eat) to the ingredients to cook, otherwise it creates a looping bug when cooking. Just FYI, perhaps not worth mentioning atm?

About that combination thing. I'm planning to revamp all my guides once i finished researching everything. Images and all. I'm close to posting all the guides that i've been working on so when that happens i'll change the stew and curry section.
