The Basics
What is Prop Hunt?
Prop Hunt is a team-based gamemode with two teams. Hunters and Props. Hunters have to look for the Props and kill them in order to win, and Props have to hide from the Hunters by blending in with their surroundings. There is a timer that is usually 4 minutes before the round ends.
--------------------------------------------------------
How do I play?
Hunters are rather self explanatory to play as. As a hunter, your goal is to search for props and kill them before the timer runs out. Be careful, as if you shoot a prop that isn't a player, you will take damage, so make every shot count.

As a prop, your goal is to hide from the hunters for a set amount of time. You can transform into props by pressing the "E" key or your "Use" key. If you are playing on Prop Hunt: Enhanced, you can left click a prop to turn into it without picking it up. You have 30 seconds to transform into a prop and hide before the hunters are unblinded.
The Do's and Don'ts of Hunters
Do...
  • Check the most obvious spots, people will try to defy expectations.

  • Look behind you when you open a door, a prop might be there and attempt to juke you into a different room.

  • Pick up props instead of shooting them, players who are props cannot be picked up, even if they are small props.

  • Close the door if you enter a room with only one door, so you can be alerted if a prop tries to escape. Make sure you close doors of all other rooms you entered.

  • Look for clues that indicate what prop a person could've transformed into. (For example, if a bottle is knocked over, you can assume that a prop tried to turn into a bottle, but picked it up.)

  • Use your shotgun when chasing after smaller props. (You can right-click with your shotgun to fire more pellets at the cost of two shells.)

  • Save SMG grenades for props that are trying to juke you.

  • If you have time, move smaller props into hard to reach or guarded locations. This will prevent players from turning into smaller props when you are chasing a big prop.

  • Look for displaced props to see if anyone tried to "replace" a prop in a spot.

  • LOOK UP! It's baffling to see how many props get away with the dumbest spots because the hunters just don't look up.
--------------------------------------------------------
Don't...
  • Shoot every prop you see. Try to pick them up or shove them instead. Some players will try to follow your movement, so be wary of suspicious movements of props.

  • Stand on bottles/glass props. You will take damage by doing this, and is a common mistake done by most hunters.

  • Try opening doors when another hunter is trying to open one. It'll get one of you stuck for a bit, and let a prop get away.

  • Leave every door open. Doors make a sound that can be easily heard when opened.

  • Mindlessly shoot a grenade in a room full of props. You will die.

  • Check spots that you know looks totally normal. (Unless a displaced prop is nearby.)

  • Stop if a prop enters a small/hard to reach area. Always look for a way around, and have a fellow hunter on the other end if the prop tries to go back and forth.
The Do's and Don'ts of Props
Do...
  • Attempt to hide in plain sight. Most hunters will try to look for a very small prop hiding in corners, but won't bother to check spots that are "dumb."

  • Try to hide in a room that has already been checked, and is all messed up.

  • If you have time, mess up rooms as a way to fool some hunters to think the room has been checked.

  • Have knowledge of what props can be picked up.

  • Strafe when you are trying to run away from a Hunter while in a hall or narrow space.

  • Try to follow a hunters movement if they push you around.

  • Try to get other props to help you hide, like a table needing more props on it.

  • Crouch to reduce the noise you make when you step.
--------------------------------------------------------
Don't...
  • Be afraid to hide as a big prop.

  • Run in a straight line while trying to escape a hunter.

  • Jump frantically if you are spotted.

  • Immediately move the moment you spot a hunter.

  • Try to shove yourself behind a shelf/vending machine.

  • Think you're the next LeSean McCoy and try to juke every single hunter you see.

  • Try to turn into a prop that a bunch of people are trying to turn into. You'll get others stuck.
Conclusion
I hope you found this guide somewhat helpful, if not, well... Sorry? Remember: Don't be afraid to think outside the box and commit to "stupid" actions. Also, don't ghost, it's hella rude and ruins the fun for everyone.
