Introduction
Have you noticed how, no matter how much you crank up in-game anti-aliasing settings, all edges of objects, especially those with high contrast still look jagged?

If you did, and if those jaggies are grating on your nerves, then this guide is for you. Keep reading, and learn how to improve the anti-aliasing so that your game looks smooth.
Pre-requisites
In order to enable proper anti-aliasing in Left 4 Dead 2 you will need to have the following things:

Once you make sure you have the latest drivers installed, download NVIDIA Profile Inspector and proceed to the next section of this guide.
NVIDIA Control Panel settings
First things first -- launch the NVIDIA Control Panel. Once you did, follow those steps:
  1. Click on Manage 3D settings tree item
  2. Click on Program settings tab
  3. From Select a program to customize: dropdown select Left 4 Dead 2
  4. From Anti-Aliasing - Mode dropdown select Override any application setting
Finally, click the Apply button, and close the NVIDIA Control Panel.

NVIDIA Profile Inspector Settings
This one is a bit trickier, if you mess your driver profiles you will have to restore them or reinstall the drivers so please be careful to change only what is necessary.

Unpack and launch NVIDIA Profile Inspector which you downloaded. Be sure to unpack all the files from the archive or it may not work properly. Once done, follow those steps:

  1. Click the Profiles dropdown and type Left 4 Dead 2 -- it should show up as you type, and once you select it, the options shown below will change.
  2. Select the Antialiasing compatibility and enter 0x000000C0
  3. Select the Antialiasing fix option and change it to On
  4. Select the Antialiasing - Setting and change it to 8xQ
  5. Select the Antialiasing - Transparency Supersampling and change it to 8x Sparse Grid Supersampling

Once you are done, click the Apply Changes button and close NVIDIA Profile Inspector.

In case you don't know your way around NVIDIA Profile Inspector, the image below shows the location of the options mentioned above:

Conclusion
If the anti-aliasing options set to 8xQ and 8x Sparse Grid Supersampling are too much for your PC and your frame rate is affected you can try using lower values such as 4x.

That's it, enjoy your smooth looking game!
