Time to make some changes.
I usually asign the top part of the minimap as North, and build accordingly. This gives the settlements a more dynamic layout, and avoids the the feeling of suburbia with cookie-cutter homes all facing the road.
I converted my former camp site to a multi building (I keep the log chair and fireplace). The site contains town hall, school, chapel, and main warehouse for building material. I also made my mayor house bigger than other, add some park, and gazebo in front of it.
I made a bigger road for main road, then use fences to manipulate villager's path so the sides of the road near house/building's fences are still green. Then I put trees and bushes on the green side. With same method I lead the trading wagon from the spawn point to my trading post, the wagon leaves beautiful road with green side along their way.
Navigating through the menu to build decoration and clicking destroy button became so tedious, to the point it made me realized that is Ostriv still lacking of keyboard shortcut.
