When the fine Pizza lovers at 343 released Halo 3 to the PC version of MCC they also brought in some other changes such as Content for Halo CE in the new Season 2 such as Visor colours, backgrounds and even Gun Skins!! Currently as this is Seasonal for a short time you can only earn Gold Skins for the following CE Weapons;

The Assault Rifle
The Pistol
The Shotgun
The Sniper Rifle


Basically you have to simply get kills in Multiplayer gamemodes or the Campaign but for Campaign or Firefight the Difficulty must be set on Heroic or Legendary. For Multiplayer it is always Heroic by Default.

Kills Required for each Gun:

Pistol: 500
Shotgun: 150
AR: 300
Sniper Rifle: 150

Now continue on to find out easy methods to progress the Challenges without spending to much time!

Note: Currently as far as I'm aware these skins only show up for Multiplayer.

What you need: Halo Reach.
Map: Corvette
Time: Varies, took me 1hr and 25 mins to do this Method (I had several breaks)


What you must do is go to Custom Firefight, choose the map Corvette and select Gruntpocalypse, set the difficulty on Heroic or Legendary and modify your Speed, Health, Shields and Damage to the highest they can go, make sure your two weapons you start with are the weapons you are trying to earn the golden skin for. Lastly makes sure Bottomless clip is ON

With these settings in place you can mow down the Grunts with ease, repeat this method several times if necessary to earn all the Golden Skins. You can even do Regular challenges with this method.

Go now and mow down those Grunts with minimal effort!

- Grunt Lives Matter

Note: I tested this Method several times for efficiency after learning of these Challenges and I've found this is the best method, I'd recommend starting with the AR and Shotgun as the Pistol and Sniper Rifle will take some time.

What you Need: Halo CE
Level: The Library
Time: Long; Short if just for The Shotgun

Granted playing on Corvette on Gruntpocalypse may get boring so if you're craving an Alternative but restrictive way then play on The Library, find a Shotgun and Pistol ASAP and you should progress at a decent pace with more Action. Remember to play on Heroic or if you're feeling Ballsy then Legendary.

Eventually you will have killed enough to unlock them, incase you don't know where to find them follow these steps:

Go to Options and Career, Customisation, Halo CE and then Weapon Skins. You can choose which weapon to equip your Golden Skin for. If you want to check your progress then follow this same method. Currently you're unable to view challenges while in-game.

What you need: Halo CE

As suggested by Saitam this method is good for levelling up your Sniper Rifle, start Truth and Reconciliation from the Beginning and play through it, the game is nice enough to give you a Sniper Rifle and there's a lot of ammo for it scattered throughout the Level! You should get the necessary kills by the time the Level is over. Aim for the head to save Ammo!
