Spinbullying, or how to start races faster
By PrOJeCt X-13
The strategy I've found to start races faster. NOTE: only works if you start with racers behind you.

The Intro: Why am I bullying people while spinning?
So, in Slipstream, there's three interactions cars have: slipstreaming, being bumped, and bumping.

Slipstreaming is basic and is taught in the tutorial: staying behind another car long enough to pick up a boost.

Being bumped: When another car bumps into you, your car will do a spin.

Bumping: When you or any other car bumps another car (including you), the bumper (car doing the bumping) will bump the bumpee (car being bumped) forwards and the bumper will lose some speed.

Now, usually the last one will not matter when playing in arcade mode, and none of these matter in time trial mode. This is meant mostly for races and Grand Prix.
Part One: The Theory of Spinning and Bullying
Remember what I said in the intro? How the bumper loses speed and the bumpee gets knocked forward?

Well, what if YOU were the bumpee instead of the bumper?

See, when everyone is behind you at the start of a Grand Prix or race, they always try and speed past you to get ahead of you. But you have a secret weapon... called also being able to move left and right. If you happen to be able to get in front of one of them at the right moment...

BUMP!

You've effectively bullied them into giving you more speed!

Enjoy the newfound speed as you get passed... even... more...

Hold on, we can make this better.
Part Two: Minimaps in Racing Games - Now 40% More Useful!
You see that little thing in your left corner? That square with the smaller pink square inside? That's your minimap. It's usually useless UNLESS there are cars nearby, then they show up as little green squares. Put that pink square in front of the green square and badabing, you're in the right spot to Spinbully!
Part Three: Spinbullying... With Style
So, since you've made it this far, here is my secret tactics.

You can still accelerate while Spinbullying if you hold accelerate while spinning.

The other cars will try to move out of the way if you're even more in the way. Moving left and right smartly increases your chances of Spinbullying.

If you do it well, you can also throw in a slipstream while Spinbullying.
The Outro: Spinning In the 90's
My best outcome from Spinbullying is starting in 17th place and getting a slipstream. But hey, practice makes perfect. Keep it loose, make it work, and most of all, have fun!
