Having problems with 3-6 fps while playing at windows 8? (version of OW@steam does not support this system, but You can play it at win8!)

To play the game with a lot of FPS:
1. Find Your Original War folder in steamapps->common
2. Create a shortcut for the OwarFull.exe file
3. Open settings for the shortcut and add properties to the shortcut:
a) customres 1400 900 windowex -for window with borders
b) customres 1400 900 window -for borderless window
You can set the resolution You would like to play (1222 599 and so on). Resolution in cutscenes and menu will change, but during missions You will play with resolution of Your choice - You just have to start Your game by using created shortcut!

Example of how it looks like at my pc:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Original War\OwarFull.EXE" customres 1400 900 windowex

The image is from polish version of windows but You should find out where to put the correct properties.

Nowadays you just need to update your game into 2.0.1.1. and toggle OpenGL renderer. It also contains some launcher settings as Same Resolution, which enhances your comfort of playing OW (new experimental builds includes OGL 3.0. and some bug fixes, which can boost your FPS).
And yes, you need to update it manually. Bohemia is slow in uploading OWS patches on Steam (and there's no "steam version" - it's still the same OW). You can download it from OWN or OWS (experimental builds from OWS only).

This works great thanks very much for the fix! Also you can just add these to the start up parameters using the steam method, which will let you gain the achievements and be classed as playing original war and still fix the issue.

steam>original war>right click>set launch options>customres 1920 1080 windowex

Thanks you for this fix, however, I would like to know if it is possible to play in full screen mod, without the FPS problem please ?

One thing though: You don't have to make a shortcut and run it out of Steam. You can also write the properties inside Steam.
Just right-click your game in the bib, select Properties and Starting Options. There you can write the same line that you would add to the shortcut, so you can still play the game through Steam. :D

The framerate is okay now but I'm not getting full screen. It's just opening in windowed mode. Tried both window and windowex
