Introduction! Howdy!
Thank you for taking interest in the BetterGreenScreen mod.

This mod was created by Wiethoofd, creator of WietHUD[github.com] as well as various TF2 eSports casting huds.

This mod makes it much easier to take green screen screenshots of your War Paint for workshop thumbnails.

New UI icons, slimmer HUD, and still able to include the full "wear-slider" and team buttons.

I initially asked Wiet to make this mod just for myself, as while I was able to take 4K green screen item screenshots, I felt like I could gain even more pixels from some more advance HUD changes. While he was starting to work on the mod, I realized that it would be a helpful tool for my workshopper friends and benefit the rest of the workshop community. I am thankful for his expertise and I hope this mod improves your war paint workflow.

Yes, he gave me full permission to distribute it.

If you're looking for a good tutorial on HOW to make war paint thumbnails go here.

We know about the bugs we are addressing them, we're both busy with other obligations.
We're hoping to have time to address them by September.

>>>READ ME<<<
The mod is very straight forward as it's basically just one part of a HUD, it should not interfere with any other HUDs. Just drop the "BetterGreenScreen" folder into your cleverly named "tf/custom" folder. I have tested it with RaysHud and it works fine, I will reiterate again,
It should not interfere with any HUD.

Slimmer HUD!
Not only is the screen space larger, but the UI is slimmer!

No annoying grey box and having to pose weapons at awkward angles, you can get those perfect screenshots hassle free! We also made text buttons use icons so that you save even more space!

The team buttons have shrunk and moved to the side to provide even more space!

There's no need to be cramped or lose out on pixels!

This also made the "Redeem War Paint" UI slimmer too as a bonus!

Keeping consistency with the War Paint UI and this includes the market icon!
Any Screen Size!
Works with any resolution!

No I didn't just crop these images I wanted to make sure you could take beautiful screenshots at any resolution scale!

Ultrawide screen is now supported!
Fully Customizable!
This mod is open-source (no pun intended).

Is something not quite your style? Feel free to navigate to:

>resource\ui\econ\inspectionpanel.res - This file creates the dynamic and larger greenscreen.

>cfg\valve.rc - contains: "tf_item_inspect_model_auto_spin 0" - This console command prevents the weapon from spinning.

>info.vdf - This file loads the HUD.

Troubleshooting!
The mod is very straight forward as it's basically just one part of a HUD, it should not interfere with any other HUDs. Just drop the "BetterGreenScreen" folder into your cleverly named "tf/custom" folder.

Want to re-enable the spin?
Simply type "tf_item_inspect_model_auto_spin 1 in console.

Want to enable zooming?

Navigate to resource/ui/econ/InspectionPanel.res on line 153, and change "allow_manip" from "0" to "1"

We are aware of the issues! We are busy and will work on them soon!
Thank you for your patience!

Tip: To fix the green residue on the weapon's edges, apply a bevel or an outline. A size of 3 or 4 is usually effective since it doesn't take up a lot of space.

I may be just really stupid but: the greenscreen wont show up on my custom hud (LionsHud) nor the default TF2 hud, is there something I need to activate in one of the text files?

I also resized the menu for selecting the type of war paint and weapon so that there would not be any dots... that cut off the full name of a weapon and war paint/skin
