1 Cool Setup for Every Character (Equip Remix)
By One Piece Was A Mistake
2.0+, obviously. I just wanted to share my general setups for characters, since I do have a decent amount of time in this game.

Intro
Alright, as someone who's played this game for a decent amount of time, I feel I've had my fair share of combat scenarios. Heck, I've completed the game, what, 3 times now? Almost 4? Anyway, this isn't meant to be a basic "how to build each character" guide, it's just how I prefer to build each character. All of these are based on Epic difficulty, so if you're looking to break into the Medal Hunt, using one or more of these setups might help.

This is specifically a guide for Equip Remix, which was added in the 2.0 update. Honestly it's better than the normal equipment set, so I'd recommend playing it over regular equips even as a first playthrough. As well, a lot of these might require a large portion of the game to be cleared, as they require certain skills, materials, etc. to be usable. As such, this might not be very useful as a guide if you're not playing Random Equips as well, which I'd not recommend as a first playthrough.
Mattzerker
Matt is an absolute beast, and anyone who disagrees is using him wrong.

Right, now that that's out of the way, Matt's greatest ability is his ability to deal raw, unfiltered damage. While he has quite a variety of elements available to him, none of those matter. The math simply doesn't work out in favor of thought or effort; in fact, doing those is actively WORSE because that requires thought, and thought is bad in the hands of Matt. The best way to play? Don't think, just slap.

Sword: Berzerker
Hat: Cardboard Box / Spartan Helmet (situationally something else)
Chest: Spartan Cuirass (situationally something else)
Flair: Crossbone Pin, others are preferential
Skills: Make sure nothing good on anyone else is on.

Strategy: Defend turn one.

So, Berserk. It's crazy good. It boosts your attack dramatically, and while normally the lack of control would be a detriment, the only skills Matt can use are Normal Attack (150), Quick Slash (120), Unleash (140 and greater Curse Chance) and Legend (320). Since they're all weapon-dependent, they'll all have Neutral damage and apply Curse, the single most powerful status in the universe for big damage numbers. While you can't technically control who Matt attacks, that doesn't really matter when he has a 25% chance to deal Limit Break-levels of damage. Matt alone can, often times, deal damage equal to the rest of your party.

And that's before his counter. Every time an enemy hits, you have a chance to deal, like, infinity damage to everything, as well as applying Curse to multiple enemies. Is it quite as powerful as Legend? Potentially, depending on how many enemies are hit, but since Matt can counter multiple times in a turn, it gets pretty crazy with the damage.

Is this strategy the end-all-be-all? No, generally during bosses it's better to have control. With that being said, it's not actually that bad even against bosses; Neon Valhalla is actually incredibly vulnerable to the strategy, being a boss made up of multiple segments that relies on dealing mass damage AND it's vulnerable to Curse, but even beyond that there's plenty of situations in which Mattzerker can clutch it out, and in terms of general combat scenarios he's basically unrivalled in terms of raw power. Above that, though, it's just fun, ya know? Watching Matt run up, slap an enemy for 200k then counter the next turn for just as much; there's something that triggers my monkey brain in a way so utterly satisfying.

Naughty Natalie
So, as a rule I've always preferred Nat in the role of healing. It's what she's classically been through the series, so I guess it's just a hard habit to break. Well from the looks of it I'm not the only one who thinks that way because Natalie, coincidentally, has the best healing skill in the game; 7th Heaven is so insanely strong, even if it can only be used once in a while.

Staff: Alchemy Set / Beholding Eye
Hat: Pope Hat / Curly Horns
Chest: Pope Dress / Casual Skirt
Flair: Fairy, The Tr*force, Pocket Watch
Skills: Revive, Heal More, Purify

Strategy: Grind out Limit before battle.
Turn 1, and every turn you have it available, use 7th Heaven. Very rarely Genesis is preferred.
Every subsequent turn, use our judgement when necessary, but try to balance between Auto-Revives, Revives and Healing according to necessity. Lost Fallen and Ancient Monolith summons are also useful.

Get used to seeing high-level buffs. With this equipment, you can get your buffs up to the legendary 100% buff, just an insanely strong level of power. There's not a whole lot to say about this strategy, you just buff and heal. If you're not in need of healing, Nat's also got a natural variety of spells to use, I mean, if you get bored or something. Of course, you need to make sure you're keeping Nat alive before all else; if Nat goes down, you're gonna need No Legs off cooldown ASAP because this strategy makes Nat your only lifeline. With that being said, if Nat's properly attending to your party members, there really won't be much of an issue, and your two other active party members can do what they need.
Lance's Trademark Attitude
So, Lance: he's not a nice guy. In fact, I'd downright say he's actively a d&%#. As a result, having him deal big money damage every few turns seems almost out-of-place, when in reality, he could be doing something much more in-character. When I play, Lance makes enemies suffer. It's what I do.

https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/1617311536160775334/D73B7353D352FA19343474B1ACB14DCD20843375/?imw=256&&ima=fit&impolicy=Letterbox&imcolor=%23000000&letterbox=false

Gun: Biohazard Blaster
Hat: Spelunking Hat
Chest: Explorer's Jacket
Flair: Peace Badge, Juicy Beast, Small Cloud
Skills: Debilitate, Enfeeble, Bind, Flare, Electron Gun, Encore

Strategy: RNG your way into infinite accuracy.
Use whatever debuff you need most; likely Debilitate is going to be your go-to, as No Legs, Matt and Anna hit harder physically, but Flare and Enfeebly also have their uses.
Encore, fish for a Stun or use one of Lance's attacks when you have the chance (Double Shot is good for the Weaken), but only if you must keep Lance on the field. Switch often with other characters.

https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/1617311536160792015/DDC916FBE6DBE5475524B2706AB7A29927BBDBD2/?imw=256&&ima=fit&impolicy=Letterbox&imcolor=%23000000&letterbox=false

So, debuffs are way, WAY more powerful than buffs. 80% more attack is, well 80% more damage. 50% less defense is more than that, and 80% less defense is almost disgusting. Combining this with Curse and Tired is a great way to cripple enemies, making them incredibly frail and incredibly inaccurate for all eternity. While Lance does have some viability on his own, his constant cooldowns make him a poor choice for long-term viability, but having him step into the line-of-fire for a few moments to make the enemy a pane of glass is consistently useful, and consistently funny.

A downside, though, is that Lance, even when only on the field briefly, dies often. As a result, in long-term fights he's usually going to fall at least a few times. If he gets a debuff in, he's likely gonna need an Auto-Revive on him to do it, or he's gonna need to be revived immediately. Still, having an instant "I don't like you alive anymore" button is an incredible tool.
Lightning Anna
Look I'm gonna be honest I have no idea how to use Anna, she's usually the weakest member of my team. At best I use her for resisting everything, since Nat's equips are usually more status and ability oriented. With that being said, her kit, while maybe not versatile, does have a very defined niche, so might as well steer into the skid with it, right?

https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/1617311536160837625/6682A965D367482E40821A6E124652777FAAAA50/?imw=256&&ima=fit&impolicy=Letterbox&imcolor=%23000000&letterbox=false

Bow: Earth's Whisper
Hat: Cat Ears
Chest: Summer Kimono
Flair: Agnry Faic, Cat Tail, Hoop Earrings
Skills: Sharpen, Heavenly Shield, Dispel, Lock-On, Firecrackers, Reflex

Strategy: Status spam.
When you don't have good luck, get good luck.
When you don't have good evade, defend.
When the enemies aren't surrendering, *make them surrender*.
Also Stun spam is p. good ngl.

https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/1617311536160869335/5B1E1F616B9661AA5FF993B917E280DA1CD8BEAD/?imw=256&&ima=fit&impolicy=Letterbox&imcolor=%23000000&letterbox=false

It's not a very enticing strategy, and it requires / endorses RNG. However, Luck is incredibly important as a status; while it's not extremely noticeable, it plays a large amount in the long run. Since everyone else is pre-occupied doing their own thing, having someone put Good Luck on everyone doesn't hurt. As well, Anna's great at making enemies vulnerable to Stun completely impotent, although very few bosses fall into that category. As a side note, this version of Anna is one of the best capturers in the game, all she needs is a slight equipment swap.
God
So, when playing casually, you may think at first "Oh, No Legs has really low HP and really high cooldowns, he must be a nuker." Not technically wrong, but if you're using him to be something as weak as that then you haven't unlocked the truest potential of No Legs.

https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/1617311536160883085/6A6154B0DC12AA7FF66367F1A18D008BEED91159/?imw=256&&ima=fit&impolicy=Letterbox&imcolor=%23000000&letterbox=false

Toy: Star Hammer ideally, but King's Guard, Neon Lightbulb and Viking Buckler are decent substitutes.
Hat: Basket Hat
Chest: Turtle Gi
Flair: The One R*ng, Nano Machines
Skills: Phyrnna's Blessing, Geometry, whatever else you want

Strategy: Nine Lives turn one.
Nine Lives as necessary and available.
Nuke at all times otherwise, just go in as hard as possible.

https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/1617311536160895865/38454BE57EE917AB240FF6B7F2D4822E8E7DB438/?imw=256&&ima=fit&impolicy=Letterbox&imcolor=%23000000&letterbox=false

So, theoretically, this rough idea for the setup could work on Lance or Matt as well, but for a few reasons I use it on No Legs:
1. Nano Machines is OP on No Legs, cutting out 4 turns on the most powerful normal skills in the game.
2. No Legs's base attack and magic are incredibly high, and his skills further utilize this
3. No Legs dodges like a boss, making it so he often survives attacks that get him low.
4. Auto-Revive brings him back with 60 on all, something he can reliably get with Nine Lives.
5. No Legs has no defense for the Curse from The One R*ng to affect.

Beyond that, No Leg's attack variety and strength even without Star Blast is incredibly useful; Sushi Cat! heals two people basically to full, his multi-slash attacks can deal some devastating statuses, Blade Blitz has great power and reliability for its cooldown, and Swift Slash basically guarantees the enemy's gonna feel some pain.

Also, as important as ALL of that, the Star Hammer. 130 on each attack, 20 accuracy and evade. 100% Stun Chance, non-elemental boost, God Unleash. The weapon is the single most powerful piece of equipment in the game.
