Introduction
This is not a guide that is putting out concrete information on what is or isn't the best crosshair. These are simply the xhairs I use and find effective for aiming.

I'm going to provide screenshots of my crosshairs used for each weapon in-game alongside their configuration values used to make them in the Crosshair Settings under Fortress Options.
The Pellet Gun/Shotgun

This is a miniature version of the Super Shotty "god crosshair" from TFC.

The Super Shotgun

This is a replica of the "god crosshair" from TFC. FF doesn't have the exact shape used for that crosshair, but the idea of it is fairly simple.

When enemies are close, you aim with the dot. When enemies are far away, you aim with either the left or right pillar.

Nailguns (Normal + Super) & Tranquilizer Gun

The reason why I use this crosshair is because the way nails & tranq darts travel is fairly weird. Their projectile origin is aligned with the viewmodel. They will travel from the bottom-right corner of your screen towards the center, but they take a long time to actually reach the center point of the crosshair.

Therefore, if you are aiming at something up close, you'll want to use the top end of the diagonal line to aim. If you are aiming at something far away, you'll want to use the center dot.

The Rocket Launcher/RPG

The RPG has the same quirk as the Nailguns where the projectile origin is in the bottom-right corner, however, the rockets travel faster than nails (alongside having a much bigger projectile & dealing splash damage), so it's not really a problem when using the weapon.

The circle shows your splash radius. In FF, the splash radius is very small for the RPG, so you'll want to aim very close to where they are/will be if you don't plan on hitting a direct rocket.

Grenade Launcher/Pipe Launcher

The pipe launcher has a very weird-feeling projectile to aim. Describing it would take a lot of effort. To keep it simple, when you're setting pipes/aiming further away, you'll use the center of the crosshair. When you're fighting someone up-close, use the furthermost right end of the colored half-plus.

The Assault Cannon

Typically, especially in TFC, HW players tend to use one of two crosshairs: A dot, or something that represents the spread of the AC. I prefer the dot, because I feel it's better to be in control of the center of your aim than the cover of your AC's spread.

The Railgun

Honestly, the railgun's crosshair isn't really important. The projectile will travel perfectly straight from the center of your screen, so any form of a dot or centered xhair would suffice. I'm just going to show the one I prefer for the sake of showing it.

Conclusion
That concludes my crosshair configurations. These aren't gospel; play around with xhairs and find ones that you feel comfortable with, especially when it comes to size and color values.
