While playing Celceta I upscaled textures as I played. Most all textures are upscaled to 4x, some are scaled back down to 2x mostly portaits and charater model textures (they look no different). Most all are direct upscale, with a few hand tweaked.

I probably missed some along the way due to specialk dumponfirstload crashing the game, so I had to use the make mipmaps command in every area to dump the textures. Later near the end I learned that you could just inject specialk after starting the game and texture dumping works fine.
Installation
  1. Download & Install SpecialK[discourse.differentk.fyi]
  2. Start SpecialK global injection

  3. Run game open configurator
  4. Disable Create Mipmaps for 3D Model Textures (Messes with injection. Plus the new textures already have mipmaps)

  5. Close game

  6. Go to C:\Users\userid\Documents\My Mods\SpecialK\Profiles\Ys Memories of Celceta\SK_Res\inject\textures
  7. You might have to make the \SK_Res\inject\textures folders
  8. Extract all the DDS files into the textures folder


  9. Run game and Enjoy!

I don't know why but which textures actually load each time I open the game is inconsistant. Most textures usually do, but for example the in-game hud most often than not doesn't, except some times when they do load.

ok i figured it out, in case anyone wants to do it it is like this:
go to your my mods folder and choose the specialk.ini file within your game and change the following line:
ResourceRoot=SK_Res
and replace SK_Res with the place where you want your textures to be saved.

Example:
I put the folder like this: M:\\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Ys Memories of Celceta

Then I started playing the game and told it to initialize the texture folders by clicking on File in the SpecialK options.

Do not do it like this !!!!!!
M:\\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Ys Memories of Celceta\SK_Res
This is false and the injection will never be detected this way.

is there a way to install this in the local game folder? 20+ gb is outrageous amount of files to be installed on the C:/ drive.

Thank you so much. This is what I was expecting when I got this game, not the PS Vita emulated version with low quallity textures. Even the PS4 port has better textures and UI than the PC version (being also 5 times bigger) now I finally will be able to play this game being a happy person. Thank you again, I just wish XSEED actually did their job and tried to create a good version of the game for PC just like they do when they port the game for Consoles later. At least for me the game wasn't expensive, but for people who had to pay the full price here, that was a scam.

Thanks a lot for your work! This was the first time I used Special K but fortunately the textures did load! However, they looked kind of jagged and made the whole picture noisy (because of disabled in game mipmapping?), but I managed to fix it by doing the following: opening the Special K install folder, and inside the game's profile folder there will be a file called SpecialK.ini. Open it and look for the [Textures.D3D1] section. In there, set GenerateMipmaps to true. Not sure if this was supposed to be configured automatically or not at all but it worked for me and the game looked fine again. Once again, thanks a lot for this!
