Intro

A tricky class to master, Spies are incredibly useful in capture the flag matches. It is a class with good HP, armour, speed, and weapons. The class-specific grenade is pretty good, too. Skilled users can take advantage of its unique abilities, too.

Pyros (if you are disguised as a pyro)

*All classed are vulnerable to a one-hit kill with the knife, but only if the Spy is behind an enemy player.

Covert Combat

You may disguise yourself as an enemy or freindly team mate of any class. Below are some tips involving this unique trait to the spy class:

Soldiers are so common in TFC that it is your "go-to" disguise. So much so that, even though you cannot rocket jump, you could just slip by without notice.
The Engineer is also a good disguise, and will come in handy when you are in a sentry-laden area.
You can throw grenades, both the frags as well as the class-specific types, without loosing your disguise.
Throw a Hallucination Grenade into a room or corridor.
Act like the enemy team! If you behave like your teammates, you may be exposed. You can even play dead to fool the other team into thinking that their "adversaries" have killed you.
Stay Away from Scouts, as they can uncloak you upon contact.
Using guns or capturing flags will remove your disguise; yes, even the tranquilizer
If you decide to capture a flag, switch to your double-barreled shotgun, and either sneak out via a passageway, or stay close to friendly players. I do not recommend capturing the flag if sentries are nearby, because, you will take damage, and drop the flag.

Fornt-Line Combat

The Spy in TFC can actually be used in front line combat very effectively. In spite of the lack of the Medic's regenerating health and Concussion Grenades, the use of a Double-Barreled Shotgun♥♥♥♥♥♥♥Hallucination Grenade combo make for a surprisingly effective offensive class.

Medics and Scouts are oftentimes seen on the front lines,
Use the Shotgun to kill the enemy players at close-mid range
If you run out of ammo, switch to the Knife and try to get behind the player
Throw a Hallucination Grenade or two into a corridor (or other congested area) to shake things up a bit. Mix it up with a frag or two. However, do not use up all your explosives at once, since spare grenades are hard to find in TFC.
Never walk in front of a level-3 sentry.

Nice guide, what i like to do as Spy is disguise as soldier and 'rocket jump' with grenades so that the enemy team doesnt think i'm a spy. i've hardly used that strategy efficiently but it can work sometimes ig

@pr.jitterskull - best bug fixer nah not really, a pyro could light a spy on fire with the flame thrower or a rocket, then use the rockets at medium or far range to kill the spy or shotgun at close range. and even if the spy gets away, it shows the team he is a spy and the spy will be finished off by the team.

Thanks for the disguise tip of constantly going to soldier. I never thought about that and have always gone on a sniper disguise (bad habit I need to break).

the Spy in TFC is kinda crap sometime's becusae he has low helath and low armour. But sometime's i like to use the Spy.
