Lo-Fi Longwave trivia
From what the KritzKast Steam group says "This hat was been given to us by Valve Software to help promote the show. The vintage lo-fi is presented to the Player of the Week and competition winners, assuming they don't already have one".

There is a limited amount of Lo-Fi Longwaves, and the people over at KritzKast will never say how many more there is, the last one could be tomorrow or 3 years from now! You will never know.

According to KritzKast episode 121, the radio tower was mounted directly to the classes' heads during the hat's development. It was modified by Valve to use the same hardhat as the Aperture Labs Hard Hat.

KritzKast episode 122 elaborated to say that the radio tower was mounted into the classes' heads with concrete blocks.

You USED to be able to get a Vintage Lo-Fi Longwave from completing a KritzKast quiz.
How to obtain the Lo-Fi Longwave
There are currently three ways to get the Lo-Fi Longwave hat.
#1. Do something awesome within the community that stands out enough for you to be named "player of the week" on the KritzKast steam community.
#2. Win a competition they run (check their discord's "Competitions" section).
#3. Submit your tf2 art work on their discord server here ---> https://discord.gg/kritzkast if they use it for thumbnails you'll get a Longwave.
DO'S and DON'TS
DO - Try entering into competitions and events on their discord, there is only a limited amount of Longwaves, and you never know when your only chance is over.

DO - Try making a big impact on the tf community, if it's big enough, you may get a Lo-Fi Longwave. So if there's one youtube video or other thing you've wanted to work on, who knows? You might get one of these hard hats yourself!

DON'T - Ask for a longwave. The People at KritzKast will NEVER give a longwave to anyone who asks for one.

DON'T - Be a toxic person, you already shouldn't be toxic anyways, they will give a longwave to valuable members of the tf2 community.

If you're talking about just an invite on the socials, it's at the bottom with the rest of the socials, if you're talking about #3 I'll change it right now.

Hey, can you update this to send people to our discord please? We don't spend that much time on steam at the moment so discord for comps, art submissions and events is the place to go Also, on occasions we've been known to do twitter comps and events that result in someone getting the hat. - Cheers.

For #3 on how to obtain the Lo-Fi, that link is outdated and I believe I was told a bit ago that staff usually doesn't use that method of submitting anymore. All active submissions for artwork are done through their discord where feedback is given pretty regularly to people sharing their artwork. This is how I obtained mine.
