A dominant political force in Europe since WWII, Christian Democracy never got much of an opportunity to take hold in the United States, the duopoly of Democrats and Republicans blocking out third parties. Based on the social teachings of Popes Leo XIII and Pius XI, followers of this ideology take beliefs from across the political spectrum. They advocate for justice, the family, and the local business, and see themselves as advancing rights and prosperity for all people, and defending against the uncaring, secular, or dictatorial ideologies widespread in today's world.
