Due to increased logistics operations and the increased threat from neighboring factions, the OPC fleet has become unable to provide an adequate level of security for its facilities. Long-term training of new recruits and the re-organization of the fleet also contributed to the need to introduce more Autonomous means of protection into operation.
The first such tool was the experimental drone SMD-01 "Tyrnir". With a good ratio of price and combat power, this drone has become a great tool for escorting Consolidation ships (like 101MO or Inqusitive), which has reduced the burden on the defense fleet. The use of drones was also highly appreciated by the current Council in the issue of saving the lives of military personnel in the event of a threat of global war. Having shown high results, this model allowed the special research Department of consolidation (CSRD) to start The Odin Initiative.
This drone, due to the lack of jump engines and a small power reserve, is mainly suitable for local patrols and short-distance escorts. However, to solve these problems, OPC is already developing the necessary solutions that will circumvent existing technical limitations.
