Early Game (Before Winter):
**Rush Tech for better production of Wood, Food Nutrition, The mining one is to expensive to take this early**

Don't lose more than 2 people before Winter, ignore hospital tech as long as possible

Rush House II as you only need 6 total for 120 people, don't build any houses until then

Ignore industry tech except for factory 1 and gas masks which you need somewhat early but not to early

Invest in food early and always pay off the marauders until you can't in winter (Exception is if they want your women as the stability decrease is to great) This makes not loosing troops much easier.

Expand only at a moderate pace so your troops aren't to spread out, there are plenty of resource clusters don't necessarily grab far out structures before you are ready and have some walls for choke points.

Take combat 1 after house 2, ignore the rest of the combat tree for a while and get your walls up before winter. Build one fort 1 at your choke point

Always accept refugees to get your maxed 110 pop and almost always let people go with food to get the +5 stability back. Ignore the politics tree outside the initial politics which you can take if you need a stability hit somewhat early to keep accepting workers. don't even unlock the map as you can't afford to send people and barracks tech is to expensive to research to before winter.

Only send people on fuel/people missions

When winter starts you should have walls around almost the entire starting map, 1 entrance with a fort 1, 5-6ish greenhouse 2, 3 coal, 1 Factory.
Mid Game (0c to -30c)
You will have to prob take repression tech at some point near this part if not a little earlier. You should not need to go any further in this tree. I never got anything else.

Pay the Army food every time, make sure you have 5-6ish greenhouses and 3.5 Kitchens to feed your people and be able to pay the 100 food each time. I was able to pay up until day 125 or so, and then stopped.

Rush Ammo 1 and Combat training 2 for Forts II as you will need the ammo for your smg's. You should have enough smg's just from things looted on the map.

Set defenses up in an X around your fort 1, two fort 2 in front and 2 watchtowers behind it. You will be adding machine guns in the fort 1 and the watch towers come early late game. Place your reg troops behind the fort II's and in front for the fort I

Rush House IV and start replacing House II

Have at least two field hospitals as you will take injuries and the occasional death. Ignore the rest of that tree you need nothing there. Even church is useless as stability should be fine letting the occasional person go with food.

Start researching Helmet 1 and Armor II and get just enough production to protect your troops and then switch to ammo 1 until you have about 2500, this should be enough to last until Ammo II/III

Finish research on greenhouse 3 and bar and switch over from 6 Greenhouse II to 3 Greenhouse III at -29c. This guzzles fuel so we need to switch to hunting cabin soonish.

When you get to -30 c you should have all end game houses, 3 Greenhouse III, 1 Bar, 2 Factory, Half or more of the new map behind your fences, research started down the stationary machine gun path.
Late Game:
Research Ammo II and Ammo 3, get your stationary machine guns up and going.

Research Helmet II and Armor III, produce the armor at Factory II, helmet at a factory I, and ammo II/III at the third factory. Once you have 30-45 armor III/helm II move your people to resource gathering.

Don't worry about building weapons, you will naturally get Ammo II guns from the dead marauders.

Rush the hunting cabin to help keep up with food costs and turn off one of your greenhouses as you will run out of fuel.

Add an extra watch tower w/machine gun or two to defenses if you start loosing people on the reg

Enclose all but the bottom strip of the map in your base

Tip for expanding is to cut almost all production except for food right after an attack and send them all out to build fences. This gets done surprisingly quick this way then reassign them to production. Make sure to send the army guys out to protect them from animals.

Do fuel and people missions when ever you get them

Finish your barracks if you haven't. I built mine right after -30c as I was down to 4 people. training I and II help as well for your losses but most of my people are much higher rank

This is the point I'm at now, I just finished weapons 3 and have started producing the best machine guns in the game. Chowder will be about my last thing.
Misc:
Things I never researched

Nades - They blow my walls up and even though you can take out a whole troop they are simply to random for me.

Medicine/Virus Cure/Church - No zombies mid/late game, medicine has no use??? Didn't need church as my stability is about 75-80 and sitting still

Scaffolding/Prison/Torture/Propaganda - Stability is fine, do you have to feed prisoners???. I read on forums propaganda center can get the army attacks to stop,. I might try it out this game.

Assault/Sniper II and II, I went machine guns instead, maybe snipers are better you tell me :)

Production efficiency 2 - Not really making much stuff super late game

i have play nearly 200 days in game but i found some bad this:
1 - in map after raid you will see "Place for constructions" but when you send worker there, nothing happen.
2 - when build venhicle, its 100% progress but total venhicles still zero.

i don't know when developer will update this game or their lazy. i thought i was going 5 star but i change my mind for this.

you left out: how to move the map view and get people to do anything

This was from Nov 2020, doubt it is much applicable here in 2022 with the constant updates and changes. I expect to revisit this game this year though so I may update the guide at that time.

I really don't see how it would be possible to complete everything in time you say in 'early game' chapter, research wise I could get Instruments & Artificial food + barely House II before snow, so not a chance in hell you would be able to get walls and factory researched, or am I missing something?

I always died around 40 days or so. But when I changed my thought, everything became easier.

A map with open sides is very dangerous. You can't even build a wall from scratch. So many resources can't afford it either. Winter has come too soon, and resources don't come together easily. In general, you would think that we need to strengthen our military power in this case.

But I had a different idea. Something to replace the wall with!
This is the easiest to obtain and also the cheapest!

As soon as I started, I started building the "WAREHOUSE". I decided to use the warehouse as a wooden wall. And for quick research, two research institutes were built first. This work covered the entire block of the starting area in just three days. Only two entrances were drilled to defend the enemy.

So I survived 150 days. And still my city-castle is safe.
To commemorate that, I have posted a screenshot. If you look at it, you can see the traces of a lot of trouble. I will defend hard and survive from more than 250 enemies. XD

No kidding on that being interesting. I find the village map a little to hard atm and haven't had a good run there as Winter comes so quickly. I also haven't seen any enemies after the first couple starts there. I usually skip weapon production as I find enough in the houses. First thing I do upon game creation is send a guy around the map just for the clickable loot. I get a good 4-6 guns from the start it feels so I don't do any gun tech till well later as it's expensive. Midgame the marauders seem to give decent guns so I still don't do much gun tech. Two play throughs this got me into trouble though as I ran out of ammo XD

Since I never get the antiviral I didn't realize it was only 24/h I might actually add it in at some point on future starts thanks m8

Thanks for the details. I do the same thing, keeping a fighter near any sick people. Since it's only 24 hours research, I'll still get the antiviral, at least it's qol and at most it's slowing population attrition.

You make a good point about not exposing too much, too soon. My strategy for the Forest includes keeping to that circle you spawn in, rush MP5 production and only expand when everybody has one.

The first time I loaded the village map, several houses (4+) were occupied by marauder squads. That hasn't happened since - I've started 3 or 4 new games since then, no occupying enemies appear.

So - with the Village, I would line my fighters up on the South road where you spawn in - then build a whole basic town behind them in the south trees. That's because I always expected well equipped human enemies to spawn into the houses. That game save is long gone but - I remember enjoying the challenge of clearing the town one house at a time.

PT 1

I always tried to get prime locations early when I first started and that always had me way spread out more than 6-8 soldiers could reliably protect. I'd suggest working from the center and bottom of the map first. Nothing spawns straight south. Very little spawns straight north either though so it might be an option. Most zombies/animals are from the East or West with the West being the worse. I found not pursuing the west house with the fence around until later it made my life easier, with the hole in the fence the zombies always seemed to be find some weird angle I wasn't ready for.

PT 2

My soldiers basically made a dome shape around my base with the south unguarded. two groups of two on the W and NW, one soldier NNE, two E towards the cars, and one SE on the road. A couple times I'd have to swing one of the W solders SW, but it was rare.

I did lose 3 people to zombie in my most recent match, I always have one soldier follow the person around if they are sick. Also my warehouses tend to be near guard posts in case one randomly turns and can be insta killed. I never execute the sick people, super risky as very seldom do they not turn lol
