Class description
Dreadnoughts / Battleships (BB) are heavy surface vessels, designed around heavy APS gun platforms, firing rail assisted shells at enemies, while packing a decently heavy armour to soak up all but the heaviest rounds. These vessels focus on engaging large surface ships and airships, having only a comparably light secondary armament and little to no missiles. A relatively light torpedo armament is usually present, however, to give these vessels some means of engaging submarines. These vessels are best to be escorted by dedicated AA ships.

The ship
The Jupiter class Dreadnought is a through development of the gunfocussed frigates and Vanguard class light cruiser. Using modified guns from the Annihilator class aerial cruiser, it's designed to counter heavily armoured ships and airships. Carrying four turrets with quad 480mm cannons, it's almost the heaviest gun platform Eagle Industries provides, second only to the Orion (which also has a 16 barrel setup with 480mm rounds, but at a higher RPM).

Jupiter excels at taking down other ships with medium to thick armour (up to 4m metal, depending on the angle) but will struggle penetrating heavier armour. Light warships may find themselves to be "lucky", as the AP rounds of Jupiter tend to overpenetrate light warships.
Aircraft are dealt with by a single 6 barreled 80mm gun, supported by four missile turrets each carrying 16S missiles.
Lastly, a comparably small defensive suite comprised of missile interceptors and LAMS is present, providing some means of protection against enemy shells and missiles alike.

Changes (23-11-2021): Version 62

- Reworked the armour: Turrets reinforced to protect against missiles better, Reinforced engine room armour and on general made the hull 200.000 kg lighter. She now sits where she needs to sit (in the water) and is now faster (26 versus 23 m/s)

This thing does pretty well against everything except a Megaladon, but the megaladon is significantly more expensive, so I'm not even mad.

I should note that the current changes are in anticipation of a new stable version. When you use this ship in the campaign I advise you to wait for a bit until you update the vessel.

Changes (7-12-2020): Version 58

- Reworked the LAMS to be less vulnerable
- Added munition detectors, and deconnected existing ones from the mainframes
- Added extra armour around the ringshields in critical areas (where the beam might cause large damage)
- Replaced ACB logic for the ringshields and ECM so that they turn off when not in combat once again
- reprioritized the engines so that the auxillary engine isn't running at full power all the time.
- Disconnected the smoke system and laser designators from the mainframe, improving overall armor.

Hi GhostLeader, lasers are pretty much the bane of everything, yeah. You can turn up the output of the smoke dispensers, and I might put out another revision to counter laser craft a bit better soon.
