Or you just build a base with a scanner room, and have it scan for wrecks.

Actually, the aurora isn't that bad of a place to be. Think about it. There are a ton of food and water items inside.

the wrecks in the underwater islands and the mountains were much easier to get to

Living on the edge haha! Yeah I had two outposts near there too. One is just for storing items though seeing that the area around the wreck is pretty much devoid of anything except a few minerals. :2017stickycrab:

In my last playthrough, I actually built my rocket platform in waters that were infested with Ghost Leviathans. Crazy me. :D
