HMAS Flammenwerfer

Here's another of my themed airship builds. This is the Flammenwerfer, named, surprisingly, because it werfs flammen, or throws fire, if you don's speak German. Sadly we do not have flamethrowers in FtD, but I'll give you the next best thing: smoke generators and a 600rpm 200mm HE cannon.

The Flammenwerfer features a 600rpm HE railgun, though the muzzle velocity is only 200m/s. There is a 300mm frag gun located amidships, which covers the broadside dead zones, and it fires at 60rpm bursts. The AI is actually a breadboard, which performs like a point at and maintain distance only with a bit more intelligence. Unfortunately, the vehicle isn't stable enough for the smoke/ flame generators to make the fire accurate, but I still think it looks nice. The HE gun just melts metal and wood. It is also set to change targets very rapidly, so it works well for just stripping outer components. The armor isn't great, but there are multiple layers so it should be alright. I added heavy armor in a few places to improve durability.

This is the first airship to feature guided weapons, in the form of two large torpodoes mounted on the bottom, and two twin medium missile launchers near the stern on either side of the top. Eight quad 40mm simple AA guns complete the armament. The APS, missiles, and AA guns are on separate AI mainframes. Like the rest of my airships it follows the standard speed of 50m/s.
During testing I've found that it can beat a Tyr as well as other good SS ships as long as it can get behind them fairly quickly.

Lore-wise, the Flammenwerfer is a converted tugboat/tugairship which is meant to specialize in night combat. The civilian origin explains the shape, exposed gear box and large propeller arrangement, and all the glass windows. These ships would be deployed ahead of a fleet as screens and spotters. Once enemies are found, the Flammenwerfers would set the enemy ships alight, stem to stern, then withdrawal. Setting the entire deck and superstructure of an enemy ship alight would presumably discourage return fire. You may also notice a light on top of the bridge. This is an identification light, which would only be visible from above, meaning the high altitude fleet flagship knows where their scouts are, even if they are otherwise blacked out.

Also keep in mind that the colors and reflections and overall appearance of my airships will vary significantly based on your graphics settings, so feel free to mess with your settings and the paint colors until you get them to look how you like.
