Does this look familiar?
Have you ever encountered a situation where you have no idea what ghost it is and you already brought everything from the truck?

Don't worry, there's a lot of small tricks to know what ghost it is.
EMF lvl 5

Have you ever looked at the activity and thought it was useless, well you were wrong. If the activity EVER increases by 4 it's always an EMF level 5 ghost. It doesn't matter if it increases from 2 to 6 or from 4 to 8. As long as it always increases by exactly 4, one of the evidences is EMF lvl 5.
NOTE: In recent updates there's a very small chance the activity will increase by 4 and it won't be EMF lvl 5. But in most cases it is still EMF lvl 5.
Demons
Demons are one of the most annoying ghosts because they can easily kill you early in the game. But there's one trick that may help you.

If you happen to find an Ouija Board, you can try this trick. First step is to look at your sanity. Make sure to remember it. If you have a friend, you can ask him to stay in the truck and watch your sanity the entire time. Turn on the ouija board and ask it a question. If the question is successful and your sanity DOES NOT lower, the ghost is a demon.
Thermometer
The thermometers have a lot of uses. The most obvious one is that if the temperature ever goes below 13°C, the ghost is most likely nearby.

If the temperature goes below 10°C within the first minute you have entered the house, one evidence is freezing temperatures and if the temperature ever goes below 3°C it's also freezing temperatures.
Fingerprints
Another trick that I love to use: You do not need the UV Light to find fingerprints. If you see the ghost move a door or flicker the lights, take a picture of the door or switch. Then, go to your journal. If Fingerprints is evidence, then you will be granted Fingerprints right off the bat. Otherwise, if you are sure you took a picture right after the ghost interacted and if it is not labeled Fingerprints, then you can most likely cross it off the list

Poltergeists
Poltergeists have a unique feature that could be useful. So poltergeists have a way higher chance to throw objects than other ghosts. This means that poltergeists are way more likely to be extremely active. However that doesn't mean the ghost is a poltergeist. There's still a chance another ghost is very active but in most cases a very active ghost is a poltergeist.
But if you see the ghost throw 2 objects at the exact same time the ghost is 100% a poltergeist. So next time you see a very active ghost, pay attention to how many objects it's throwing. Just remember that the objects have to be thrown at the exact same time.

Taking a picture of the door right after it opens will probably be labelled as Interaction, I recommend waiting to try and see if there are fingerprints.

Does the EMF jump still holds after the recent update?

Be carefull of stacked Events that could fool EMF 5 :)

@Lightninglash can you please try to explain how fingerprints looks like without the UV light?

Re: EMF 5 activity 4 spikes.

The Activity 4 spike thing is real. BUT. You must read the data carefully. It needs to go UP 4 exactly in one go, then DOWN 4 exactly in one go without flatlining That period can be broken with other spikes, too.

Example:

Activity 2 (+2 EMF3 event starts), Then Activity 6 (+4 EMF5 event starts), Then Activity 4 (-2 EMF3 event ends), Then Activity 0 (-4 EMF5 event ends).

HOWEVER!

The ghost CAN trigger 2 events at exactly the same time, and they can end at the same time. If those 2 events happen to add up to Activity 4, you can get a false positive.

What I usually do is get someone to go into the house and call the ghost's name (from somewhere safe is fine if it's in hunt range, all you're trying to do is get it to interact with stuff) If you get more than one solid +4 with accompanying -4's it's an EMF 5 ghost.

So. IF you read the wiki:
EMF level 5 has a 25% chance of happened for any action a ghost does, but only if its level 5 evidence. EMF 4 is manifesting, EMF 3 is throwing objects and EMF 2 is interacting (Turning on/off lights, writing in a book ETC ETC)

The Board has a chance of spawning on ANY map, ANY ghost and asking ANY wrong question will lower your sanity.

The thermometer temperature can be effected by the size of the room/item you are looking at. Looking at something metal has a lower temp then the room itself. The Gym in Highschool always reads as cold. If the temp suddenly plummets to below 5, you are looking at the ghost with the Thermometer. The ghost is ALWAYS cold to look at.

The UV trick is also semi-false. The UV fingerprints are also visible without the light or wasting a photo, and not all ghosts leave a fingerprint.

ya idk about the EMF 5 one. Played some games tonight with friends, 2 times we saw a spike of 4 (1 to 5 and 0 to 4) on two separate games and ended up being a different ghost. Anyways, thanks for the rest of the guide.

EMF lvl 5 trick isn't always true. It usually seems to be, but not always. I am 100% sure of this.
