Forests are your main source of wood that require a axe.
Forests take time to grow new trees, having a chest nearby using one wood greatly increases work efficiency by decreasing the time taken to deposit wood.

There are four basic crafting materials that can be mined.
Each require a pickaxe and a boulder, rock or a mineshaft.
Rocks are very heavy, one wooden chest wont increase the work efficiency by much.

It only works in combination with the mineshaft that can be built.

Costs 36 wood and 8 steel to construct but it is very efficient and also doubles as storage.

Having each resource overlap on one spot on the map reduces the amount of mineshafts needed to farm stone.
Building a mini base around a mineshaft and constructing a lot of storage nearby reduces the time taken for marching by a lot.

I was originally planning to add a timer and the amount of stones that can be mined from one rock. Ended up scrapping that idea.
