A monster should spawn after meditating. When you kill it you get the XP. This seems to be some sort of bug that occurred after I loaded from a quicksave prior to clearing a monster nest. For reference I'm running Steam version with all DLC and using the HD reworked mod (v12) locked at 4k30fps with rivatuner scanline sync.
