Class description
Submarines (SSN) are nuclear powered vessels designed for anti-ship and anti-sub operations. The class varies from small drones to large vessels. Being relatively underpowered for their cost, they rely on their immunity against most weapon systems for survival. Ballistic submarines are the pinnacle of sub technology, being able to engage almost every conceivable target, while being relatively immune to counter attack

The ship
The SSBN Hades class of ballistic submarines are the most biggest and most fearsome submarines in the Eagle Industries arsenal. Hades is the God of the underworld, and will rightfully take its place in the battlefield. At 127m long, she's the biggest submarine, exclipsing the Stingray in both size, protection, speed and firepower. Carrying 4 "Hades" anti-ship torpedoes with remote guidance, 2 "Vengence" conventional anti-ship torpedoes and 16 Stinger torpedoes she's able to outmatch every submarine on Neter. Ships aren't safe either, as they'll bear the brunt of both torpedoes and 10 heavy ballistic missiles. These ballistic missiles are also useful against airships, meaning that this vessel can counter almost every unit in the game.

At 400k, she's comparively cheap to other end game units. For this cost, expect it to dominate the entire battlefield, bar a few units with exceptional firepower (Megalodon), speed (Candela), defences or a combination of those (high class SD units). Nevertheless, she should be able to counter everything at least twice its cost and come out on top, if you use the right strategies. There are several automated routines available that should aid any captain sailing Hades.

Captains advice:
The Hades class is the most advanced sub available. The sub is usable in full manual or full automated mode. Make sure the bouyancy (secondary drive) is set to neutral or slight negative when using the AI routines. The periscope is fully automated, and has an integrated sensor mast to aid with detection of enemies when at periscope depth.
You can preset depths by activating A, which activates the depth control at periscope depth (25m). Press B to settle the sub at boomer depth (100m). Use this depth against most airships, as you'll need the sea as defensive layer. The AI will automatically seek out a depth around 100m. Max launch depth for ballistic missiles is around 150m, so you can opt to go deeper.
Full manual control is available, too. The sub will help you maintain a steady pitch, but you'll have full control authority using the main drive (throttle) and secondary drive (ballast tanks), as well as yaw and pitch. Manual control will help you when your opponent outmatches you.
Maintain a distance of 3,5km to 4km at all times. This is the optimal weapon range and maximizes the defensive layer present around the sub. If you adhere to this advice, you get a sub with a very low running cost being able to take on the heaviest of enemy units.

Controls:
The AI will be able to control this vessel, more dynamic operations are possible with human control. First, turn off the AI movement.

T+G provide main power. 50% power gives a stable power consumption, anything above it slowly drains the batteries.

O+L provide depth control. 100% gives a positive bouyancy resulting in the vessel surfacing. -100% provides a slight negative bouyancy. Around 0% gives a near 0 m/s vertical speed when under power. NOTE: Please make sure secondary drive is in neutral or slight negative when using any of the automated systems (AI control or depth control)

Y+I provides yaw authority

A activates depth control at 25m, useful when up against aircraft or in shallow waters.
B sets depth at 70m
C deactivates depth control

D+E control silent mode. Silent mode switches off all wireless communication and will cap thrust at 10% to make the sub as invisible as possible. Use this only in dire situations.

NOTE: Full throttle will drain the batteries. 50% throttle gives a slight energy increase. Most battles will be over before the batteries are drained, but make sure you allow the sub to regain energy in between battles.
NOTE II: Missile systems will automatically deactivate once a depth threshold is reached. Use the depth presets to activate these systems.

This is so awesome. The level of details is off the charts - the opening and closing of the missile tubes and the missile actually being removed from the sub blew my mind.

Which do you prefer, type 01 or type 02?

Also changed boomer depth from 70m to 100m to allow for extra defenses.

Update: v45. BETA TEST PRE-RELEASE.

Missile changes: Pre-lock behaviour changed. This has allowed a much deeper max fire depth. Both the AA and ballistic missiles have been changed to fire much deeper (up to 150m depth for the ballistic missiles)
