Merrick's Pheidon (Greece)

Pheidon was an ambitious ruler, supposedly descended from Heracles and Temenus, who ruled Argos at a time when it rivalled Sparta and reigned as the dominant military power in Greece. He is credited as the originator of the iconic hoplite phalanx and used it in battle to defeat the Spartans. The Spartans later adopted this strategy themselves and it soon spread across Greece.
Argos itself is credited as the inventor of the aspis, the bronze shield used by hoplites all over greece. It's "argive grip" allowed hoplites more mobility in combat, for better offensive and support ability.

With Doru and Aspis

• Cities with an Acropolis or Holy Site provide +1 Great General Point per turn and receive a +50% Production bonus towards Anti-Cavalry units.
  
• Anti-Cavalry units built in those cities earn +25% more experience in combat.
  
• Receive a random Civic boost when recruiting a Great General.

Heraclid

• Likes Civilizations with large standing armies who are advanced in culture and science. Dislikes his neighbours and covets their land.
