Amazons + Radious

Description
A radious balanced submod for Expanded Roster's Amazons, I have gotten used to doing these sorts of things. Of course credit goes to the original authors of expanded roster series and radious. I merely make the expanded roster stuff viable for radious loadouts. You will require the original mod and it's requirements to work. I am still working through fine-tuning of balancing all this so it may not be quite where I want it.

Do make sure this is above the original mod, if it's not, then you can't really blame me if the changes don't apply.

Thanks for the reply! I appreciate you doing these kinds of mods, really makes the game better. I'll look into rusted pack file manager and see what I can do. For the archer tip, I'll give that a try and see how it goes. Thanks again :)

@Dagger, well for the time being I'm busy with WH3 things, I will be revisiting WH2 for some of my own submods and potentially new submods. But it'll be awhile, so in the meantime if you want to edit the pack file yourself to buff the amazons, I recommend getting rusted pack file manager. It's what I use to edit pack files, the tables you're looking for are land units table, melee weapons table, and projectile table, for altering most values related to a unit's combat potential. But if you don't want to do that, I recommend using the archer units, and have a smaller front line, try to get a spellcaster early on and you should be fine. I don't play vortex much, so I'm not the best at knowing the situation there. I may look into it later.

Hello DarkRite. Not sure if this mod is still being worked up but I'm hoping you can help me out. Been playing the Amazons in the Vortex campaign and I am consistently getting my ass handed to be by the Blue Viper orks. They just outclass my units at every turn. Is it possible to buff the Amazons more or is there a tool I can use to do it myself? It's just getting exhausting restarting the campaign over and over as I keep losing.

Don't worry about it, I play multiplayer with a friend a lot of the time too, in fact that's part of the reason why some of the alterations to the amazons are even there from the original mod (some extra units have magic attack, eco was buffed, but may still need more buffing according to my friend, some tech gives new bonuses on top of the existing ones, etc). But yeah I would play Chaos Dwarfs, he'd play amazons, we'd both be fighting most every battle early game, and it'd only really subside late game, cause my late game chaos dwarf armies could just auto most everything. Though personally I think there's very little chance of beating a chaos dwarf late game army, minus one encounter with a unkillable Malekith (not sure how the AI managed that one).

yeah idk. even with all my buffs and techs, warriors and stalkers still lose in auto to (presumably) late game mazda skink cohort. but i was fine with higher tier infantry. even against saurus and temple guard and things.

must just be that they are close enough that ai cheats and difficulty tips it alot.

as a side note: yeah my favorite char is khalida. Its gotten better over the lifetime of wh2 with some unit and splash buffs for khalida, but votex khalida was for the longest time def the hardest start.

so its all good. just felt worse here cuz it was multiplayer with a friend and they had to watch me fight like every fight hahaha. even really easy ones. thanks for the mod! good work!

Well the values in the table for that seem to match up with radious values, so if there is a problem it's due to either the unit's own stats, or AI cheats, which the latter I cannot really do anything about. The former is more an assumption, also as an example, I play Chaos Dwarfs a lot (the joy I feel literally blowing up everything before me is truly wonderous). Early game, very hard difficulty, their situation is borderline legendary in difficulty, auto is not really an option most times, so it's risky. Late game, my armies breeze through enemies with easy auto wins and fairly low damage taken.

yes the table CP values.

i am currently testing to see if the same issue is present in mid and late game with all the research and skills. but early game just on hard difficulty they are losing to skink cohorts and skink cohorts with javalins (and 1 kroxigore lord)

The weird thing is that the CP of radious units are still scaled with vanilla CP in mind. For example saurus warriors have a CP of 750 melee (I'm assuming the value in the main units table for melee and ranged CP is the thing being discussed here, if I'm mistaken let me know what the right table is), that's for both vanilla and radious, eagle warriors have 750 melee CP, and so should be trading evenly there. If there's anything I missed it'd be whatever auto-buffs the AI gets due to difficulty, as I do not even know where to look for that. The fact they aren't trading evenly means I either missed something or the AI buffs are just stupid for balance reasons.

all of them seem to have some lower combat powers for their tiers. the only ones kind of ok are the berserkers. will do more comparisons
Queen Aoife 17 Oct, 2021 @ 12:21pm
you changed the stats but i dont think you changed the CP (combat power). the amazon warriors and stalkers seem to lose auto resolve to basic skink cohorts, despite being much stronger and winning easily in combat. not toooo big a deal. just makes playing them a slog since you need to manually fight every battle pretty much.
