Tip of the day
  • Some items such like herbs, fire vials or even pretty jewell can be burned by an enemy flame attack, some burning items can also damage you.

Drop each burnable items from your inventory on the ground before fighting dragons.
Thanks to Gatsbi for the tip

  • There are many ways to escape the Dark Lord if you are not prepared.

The dark lord can float above mountain, water, lava and pit, but he have to destroy walls to pass through. So dungeons, and towns are good ways to escape him.

Lots of items are effective against him such like the Scroll Of Confusion to confuse him, Tentacle Weed to freeze him for 3 turns, and many more items.

The Teleporting Pill may also save you, if it teleport you away enough from him.

If you meet a Player's Ghost, stay close to him, so the Dark Lord will engage an (eternal) fight against him.

Watch out if the Dark Lord meditate, this means he will cast a fire spell the next turn, his spell make a lots of damage. Try to move one tile away from him so he cancel his spell.
Thanks to empty azzwipe for the tip
Turn-based Rogue-Like
  • This game is a turn-based Rogue-Like RPG. Each movements, each actions and each inventory usages count as a turn. So nothing will happen until you do something.

  • Take profit from diagonal moves and interactions. This may give you some precious time! To force diagonal move, hold Y(controller) or CTRL(keyboard).

  • Some actions such like climbing a mountain or swimming take more turns. Some skills may reduces this like "Swim Coach" or even the natural ability of the Pirate class.

  • Agility give you chance to make multiple attacks in a turn.
The darkness, your eternal burden.
  • You are constantly chased by the darkness. Each turns, the darkness consume 0,5 tile of the world. If your character is going off the screen, it's the instant death.

  • You cannot escape the darkness from the screen, if you move far than 16 tiles away from it, the darkness will accelerate to keep the range of 16 tiles away from you. So feel free to explore the world vertically to gather more items and kill more monsters to gain EXP.

    -

  • Fairy Iris said often enough but never hesitate to use your Awakening skill in desperate times. When you activate this skill, the time is frozen for 3 turns, enough to smash a wall or escape a too powerful enemy. Your attacks are also more powerful during those 3 turns.

Make a wise usage of this skill because you can use this skill only 5 times per game.
Fight like a hero.
To survive more longer, you'll have to fight more tactically. Here are some fiew tips.

  • If a monster is one tile away from you, skip a turn (Y+B for controller or CTRL+X for keyboard) so you will take the advantage and be the first to attack.

  • If you see a x2 above someone, this mean he can make two moves the next turn. If a monster is one tile away like the previous tip, move one tile backward to make the first hit.

  • Beware of powerful monsters. If you see a yellow triangle above someone, this mean he can be more powerful than others. If you see a red star, let's hope you are lucky against this one.

  • Allays keep an eye on your equipment durability. The durability of an equipment is shown by number between brackets after the name of the item.

The durability can only be revealed by using a Scroll Of Analysis or by talking to a Appraiser NPC. (500 silver to appraise all weapons/armor of your inventory)

If your equipment durability reach zero, it will breaks and will be wiped from your inventory. So allays keep a replacement equipment if you can.

You can repair your weapon and armor by using a Scroll Of Jerryrigging and repair your shield with a Shield Repair Kit. Be also warned that Jerryrigging also reduce the maximum durability.

  • You can throw almost everything in your inventory, those can damage enemies but it destroy the item aswell.
You also can use those Big Rock and Throwing Knife instead.
Thanks to Pleinair for the tip

  • (Updated) You can recruit the Charisma Checker Soldier in the starting castle. You need 3 charisma to be able to recruit him, recruiting him will consume charisma. He can be a great help along your quest.

Your character stats and perks
  • Always add a Lockpick perk on your character.

First, it prevent from reducing the durability of your weapon and second, it's more efficient against toughter chests than smash it with your weapon.

You may not unlock the chest the first attempt but you gain more chance to unlock the chest if you repeat the action, so don't give up as long the darkness is far from you.

  • (Updated) Killing wild inoffensive animals will make the Jade Forest Members aggressive against you, but they can help you much more than you think.

Goat will give you 500% EXP (probably the most useful animal to kill)
Snow Hare will give you 300% EXP
Otter will drop an item that it increase either Agility or Charisma,
Fox will drop an item that it increase either Intellect or Willpower,
and Horse will drop an item that it increase either Strength or Vitality.

You'll have to assume your action if you are willing to kill them because those Jade Forest Members are pretty strong. And killing them will add a bounty on you.
The online features
  • Join a multi-verse world! The online feature just display other players progress but you can also meet ghosts of players who died!

If you talk to one of them, he will give you 50% EXP and will drop a random item.

for soldier D, you need 4 charisma, but it consumes 3. if you have 3 charisma he will compliment you but say that his duties are required here

Tip, don't let the Demon Lord kill NPCs as much as they can! The Demon Lord will level up, and she will become much harder to deal with down the line if your equipment is lacking.

I have to ask how often you find important things in the chests enough to warrent the lockpick perk. That's a perk that could be spent on something that gives more consistent results, like item identification so I know what stuff is or survivor so i don't run out of hp in the early game

You need 4 Charisma to actually get Soldier D on your team, you just only spend 3 on him

To anyone else reading the comments, don't forget to use your class' ability! For example, Knight has "Great Wall" which can save your life if you're going up against five or six enemies in a row!

Your guide needs a little bit more work and some spell checking. For instance, 'allays' should be 'always'

-In your "Fight like a hero." part of the guide, it should be noted that the durability will also be revealed if your intellegence is high enough to completely reveal all information of that item.
-Also, you need "4" charisma to recruit Guard D in the castle, not 3 (if I remember correctly).
-The random item dropped by ghosts is, to my knowledge, a random item they had in their inventory when they died. Talking to them will also restore some health.
