Yes, I'm serious. Learn how to complete the hardest part of the tutorial, the 50 combo link.

Introduction
Before you think this is the most uneccesary guide ever, go play Jet Set Radio's tutorial, as you obviously never have. Go on. I'll wait.

Give up yet? Good. Welcome back.

You may or may not have gotten stuck on the most difficult part of the tutorial, which requires you to go up to 50 tricks in a combo without losing it. To do so REQUIRES you to know the best route to make a huge combo in the bus area, and the skill to actually perform it.

Lucky for you, I'm here to show you the route. That last bit's your problem, though.
The Guide
So when you hit the bus route, you'll want to locate ye olde handrails over here:
Once there, do what the wonderfully drawn MS paint arrow tells you and start grinding. You'll eventually get to a staircase.
This, too, is a simple matter fixed by jumping. Congratulations, you know how to press the Jump button. (Or the Jump key, for you poor, unwashed heathens that play this with a keyboard)
Once at about this point, you'll want to switch to the rail on the left hand side so you don't grind down the stairs like a jackass and screw everything up.
Now jump back to the right. Once you begin going down the stairs, jump on the billboard for a wallride.
This is where it gets tricky. Without losing too much momentum, you need to jump onto the rail below without landing near the end of it; land too close to the edge and you wont have enough room to do a jump to the next rail.
Now you need to do another jump onto the rail in front of you, mind the gap and dont forget that missing the proper angle will cause you land instead of grind. Keeping the proper momentum is critical for this, so make sure you dont go too fast or too slow.
Now, jump onto the billboard, then jump again.
Now cross your fingers and hope you dont overshoot the rail or miss the angle to grind. If you land it, you'll be back at the start of the loop and can repeat this process until you get 50 tricks, which should only take about 3 reps.
The Closer
And now you know how to actually complete the so called tutorial. Ironically, the game tells you everything you need to know how to play in the first 5 minutes of the campaign anyway, making this tutorial completely unnecessary and kind of a cruel joke. Upon completing this, you will be among the elite percentage of Steam players able to complete a tutorial. Good job, and play the damn campaign already!

Hello to anyone trying to beat the tutorial, the biggest issue with the tutorial i had is i skipped straight to trying the tricks. just make sure you follow the first lessons and walk around a bit before jumping straight into the 50 tricks! theres alot more to the tutorial than the 50 tricks :D

Bro I remember slaving over this for hours until I ended up with the EXACT same route you did. I don't even think there is another way to complete it.

Yeah, this is definitely a difficult tutorial to complete, but for me the hardest part was trying to get the turn around to work properly.

At least it's not nearly as bad as the tutorial mission from Driver 1 on PS1. :vroomygear:

I remember spending hours trying to complete the tutorial on the ANDROID version. No bluetooth controller. It was hell.
