Yes you can if you look hard enough. If you have commentary mode on one of them at an upgrade station gives you the pistol extended mag upgrade free.

your link leads to walkthrough without your or dev commentary and your screenshots prove nothing.
I just checked

another walkthrough with dev commentary and there was no such thing like free upgrade so video or didn't happen.
