Class description
Corvettes (FS) are a class of small ocean going warships, forming the backbone of the auxillary and patrol fleet. Corvettes are subdivided into four styles: General purpose corvettes such as the Stalwart class, which are tasked with many of the escort and patrol duties. Torpedoboats, starting at the Vigilance class, which rely on high speeds and a large compliment of torpedoes to destroy subs and surface ships. These evolve into the subdestroyer class. Lastly, missile corvettes carry a heavy armament of medium to large missiles to destroy surface ships and heavy airships. These start with the Hunter class and evolve into the shipdestroyer class.

The ship
The Vigilance is a small corvette, designed for high speed recon and patrol duties. It is designed around a planing hullform, which lifts itself partly out of the water. Together twith hydrojet style propulsion, it can reach 36 m/s. This speed can be utilized either for fast interdictions of enemy vessels, quick scouting sorties or just general warfare. The weapons enable a variety of roles. It has both a bow mounted gun, usable against most surface targets. Missiles and torpedoes complete the offensive weapon array. When this ship was initially designed, she carried four quad torpedo launchers, enabling high firepower in a small and compact hull. Fieldtests have ultimately resulted in the placement of four dual launchers, as the quads were incapacitated too quickly.

Defences are mostly anti-missile and anti-torpedo based. Against laser craft she carries smoke deployers, but has no defences against shells. Use her speed to her advantage, and drive her manually for best results. She is a compact vessel, and has little redundancy to survive large blows.
