Atlas Class Corvette

Faction Craft - Neter's Edge

Description
The Atlas is a small corvette eqipped with a frontal APS gun, torpedo and missile defenses, and 16 rear medium missiles. The Atlas is built to be a mid difficulty ship in my faction that uses it's agility and speed alongside its well defended internals to survive. The Atlas is much closer to a patrol boat in function, but because of it's defense and cost, is marked as a corvette.

The missiles on the back are in exposed launchers to nerf the ship a bit and consist of radar frag, thumper, and shaped charge missiles. The frontal GPP system was removed in order to slightly nerf the detection and strength of these missiles. The craft is also equipped with strong shielding and smoke systems making it very laser resistant for it's size.

The ship also carries a small nuclear torpedo on it's underside that is good at deflecting torpedoes and damaging larger targets.

The built in weaknesses are crams, missile swarms and the exposed rear launchers.

As always, question, critique and comments are welcome. If anyone has any ships they think would fit in well with the rest of the faction, let me know.

On a side note, thanks for all the support I've been getting on my ships.

I hope you enjoy the ship!

That nuclear torpedo doesn't work well, but this ship is a pretty cost effective one, oddly enough.

yea i can make that work. Let me know if you want it as a single or double gun and how much engine power you have spare for rail juice when you send her over.

Actually they'll probably be closer to 7x7x5, I can private upload the hull when it's done so you can see

I've looked over your stuff and I like it, the next ship will likely be running 7x7x7 guns at around 120-180mm gauge guns

hmm. maybe take a quick gander at the acadia and floria and see if you like what you see. Could make a pretty mean 7x7x7 or 9x9x8 rail gun which id consider to be pretty small. add me up

I'll say that at 2200 hours in, small APS is not very fun to make, I've gotten very particular with my guns. If you design some solid small APS that you think would fit let me know. I've done some work with other players before and it always works out well. I mostly wish I could fit some massive guns (if you look at my old throne ship which no longer works) into my ships, but the build style is infuriatingly limited. I'm optimistic that I can get some big guns in the fortresses for the campaign.

hmm i see your point with your ships being narrow for FTD standards. I have a lot of time sunk into design and testing aps . It's probably the thing i have the most fun with. Let me know if you'd be interested in a bit of a collab where I build you a couple aps guns

I completely agree, I've always felt somewhat limited by the general time frame my builds are based around. I'm likely shifting to a slightly more APS based system. There will likely be a laser ship at some point. My biggest issue with large APS is finding a ship that it would fit in or make sense with. I'll try to take your advice on future vehicles and completely agree.

Hey! Love your collection. My critique would be that you rely on missiles too often as a main source of damage output. Many of your ships feel the same having CIWS aps guns with a missile battery. Maybe try using a laser offensively instead of defensively or a bigger aps gun to shake things up a bit. Cheers!

That's not a bad thing I say, it means the ship designs stay consistent with each other so they really look like they're part of the same faction, like how the neter factions have similar designs.

Also I didn't even notice the crazy little NUCLEAR TORPEDO under it. I didn't read the description and got a wicked surprise when I tested it against a Norge, the whole ship hopped out of the water when it hit!
