Kiruka's Templar Overhaul For LWOTC (OLD, UNSUPPORTED)

Description
This mod will no longer be supported or updated going forward, due to the LWOTC Workshop release. Click here to get the new version which includes all 3 faction soldiers.

As of the May the 4th update, this tree deviates a little more from LWOTC's. For those curious, you can view the main tree here.[docs.google.com]

Although Templars no longer get massive Psi Offense growth in LWOTC, this mod nonetheless still fills a niche of making the Templar's skill tree work better alongside Psionics Overhaul V3 with Mod Jam, and adds some more interesting abilities to their repertoire.

Since the Google Doc has the main tree, I'll use this space to talk about their XCOM row decks, which have changed a lot.
  • Tier 1 now contains the following abilities: Salvo, Flashbanger, Blademaster, Frost Fang, Deadcutter, Bring Em On, Battlespace, Extra Munitions, Field Medic, Mind Crush, Smoker, Parkour, Zero In, and Amplify.

  • Tier 2 now contains the following abilities: Combat Engineer, Full Kit, Vigilance, Rapid Deployment, Cover Me, Inspiration, Aggression, Storm Fang, Sustain, Infighter, Zone Of Control (LWOTC), Sixth Sense, Formidable, and Fracture.

  • Tier 3 now contains the following abilities: Thousands To Go, Resilience (LWOTC), Evasive, Hard Target, High Voltage, Combat Fitness, Meditation, Cool Under Pressure, Combatives, Flame Fang, Survival Instinct, Cutthroat, Tradecraft, and Power Crush.

  • Tier 4 now contains the following abilities: Heavy Hitter, Liquidator, Lightning Slash, Reblossom, Jingoistic, Lightning Reflexes and Untouchable.

Mod Requirements
  • In addition to the requirements listed on the side, Long War of the Chosen is required.[www.nexusmods.com] There's not really much point to this mod otherwise. Make sure you're running a recent dev build (Dev Build 26 or later as of the May the 4th update); right now, the old beta will not contain all of the abilities this mod uses.

  • While not a hard requirement, I highly recommend Mod Jam with Psionics Overhaul V3 if you're a LWOTC player. The entire reason I did this Templar overhaul is so that the Templar's tree would fit in better with the Mod Jam Psion tree (although it also has the bonus of diversifying stuff with other perk packs).

Known issues
  • If Long War of the Chosen's Templar tree is not being overridden with this one, you may have to copy and paste the ranks from XComClassData.ini into LWOTC's, over the relevant Templar lines there. This shouldn't be necessary, however. Make sure Workshop mods are set to load AFTER Mods folder mods in AML.

Conflicts
  • There should be no conflicts to speak of.

If you think you should be credited, let me know and I'll do so ASAP.

I love this mod, but i was wondering if there was any way for the templars psionics to work with any other weapon bar shard gauntlets?

@ikebm248 You'll have to do that in LWOTC's configs, my Templar mod doesn't make any changes to their weapons, for the moment.

I just noticed my Templars now have shields. I know this is intentional and I maybe alone in my opinion, but I like the old Templar better. How can I edit out the shield features?

Dev Build 26 of Long War of the Chosen just released, which overhauls the Templar considerably. I'll be updating this mod soon to take advantage of those changes.

@Haerzog: Try going into your XComLW_Overhaul.ini in LWOTC, and find this option: USE_ACTION_ICON_COLORS . Change it from TRUE to FALSE . Then, in-game (not from the main menu, you need to be loaded into a campaign proper), look through your settings for "Use Base Game Ability HUD" or something with similar wording, and activate it.

The LWOTC melee freeze bug is inconsistent with what mods cause it, but the above steps fix it for a lot of people. Overall it's a very cursed bug and it's not one I have the skill to find a permanent solution for.

Strangely only consistent when this and Shield Rework are active. If both are off it doesn't freeze, but if either are active, or both, it freezes.

I am getting a consistent freeze when trying to use Rend on an enemy.

@kiruka You'd better stop with all that handy advice, it only leads to more people asking questions :)

@MrMister I don't really need to make something like that, though. You can always just go into the XComLatentPsionics.ini and add them to ineligible classes. If you want to snag my XCOM rows or whatnot it's a simple copy and paste job.

Interesting that you decided to address the broken Psi stat from Psi Overhaul training by deleting its innate class psi growth and giving te plars a 100% psi talent chance (which IIRC is Psi Overhaul’s default) instead of making them ineligible on the basis of differently-sourced/fueled powers, like Chimera Heroes does.

Would you consider an alternate version that renders them ineligible but keeps their psi growth?
