Campaign Research Data locations

A guide to earning each achievement (and earning that sweet, sweet upgrade data) for the entire campaign!

KNOWN BUG: If you collect even one file of research data on a given map, you cannot exit to the main menu and re-load, or quit and re-load, without disabling your ability to earn the achievement for that mission. The only work-around is to play a mission from start to finish and collect all the data in one sitting.

First Data Cache
River Bottom -- Near the South-West edge of the map, along the river shoreline.

Second Data Cache
West most corner -- If done correctly, one enemy encounter can be skipped. Do this by going directly towards the purple mission objective instead, heading to the north most end of the river (white question mark above) and then heading slowly down to the west corner -- allowing you to interact with the data without aggroing the enemy.

Third Data Cache
River Top -- Near the North-West edge of the map, along the river shoreline -- noted with the white "?". Appeared during New-Game Plus difficult.

Bonus note: A single vehicle can be hacked just north of spawn for one additional unit in this mission.

Default Data Caches: 2
Found Data Caches: 3?


First Data Cache
Eastern corner of the map, guarded by a single unit.

Second Data Cache
Western corner of the map, no guards at all.

Third Data Cache
Between your base and the first Data Cache is the new game plus one I found
Mission 3
Default Data Caches: 3
Found Data Caches: 3?


First Data Cache
Western corner of the map, no guards at all.

Second Data Cache
South-Eastern edge of map, it is required to drive around to the eastern corner in order to access this. It is north east of the expansion ore node and pad.

Third Data Cache
Northern corner of map, guarded by two stationary flamer turrets.

Fourth Data Cache
In my playthrough on New Game Plus mode I was only able to locate three
Mission 4

First Data Cache
Due north of your starting base, no guards at all.

Second Data Cache
In the ruins of a small building, north-east of the second most southern mission required cache.

Third Data Cache
Center area of map, southern quadrant: in a forest area not far from the second data cache.

Fourth Data Cache
Behind the orange enemies base, separated by a wall from their base.

Fifth Data Cache
Due south of the west most of the two mission required caches, in a ruined building.

Sixth Data Cache
In my playthrough on New Game Plus mode I was only able to locate five

in M5 there is another cache hidden in the rightmost corner just one building further to the coast

its quite difficult to spot among the wreckage but by mousing over everything you´ll find it.

For anyone else that's having trouble for Mission 6, the bottom leftish data location is in the bottom of water, so it's super super suuuuuppppperrrrrrr hard to see, it took me my fifth playthrough to finally find it :steamsad:

A cool tip for anyone trying to get the achievements for these and play on higher difficulties in one go, is that restarting a mission doesn't get rid of your saves. So you can find all of the caches > save > restart to quickly grab them all > load back and beat the mission, and it bypasses the "can't quit or load" bug that stops you from unlocking the data achievements. It helped me a lot since I accidentally beat a few mission by just running the enemies out of resources before I found the last data thing, specifically on the mountain mission I had that happen twice.
