Process that I took to upgrade from Melodyne Essentials to Melodyne Editor
The Celemony Melodyne product that ships with certain versions of X3 Sonar is a full blown product install. It installs both 32 and 64 bit versions of the product into your Program Files and Program Files (x86) folders. I was concerned about upgrading the product because I had bought X3 Sonar via Steam. But I took advantage of the Melodyne Upgrade Offer and bought it anyway.

I found my concerns were unfounded.

So this is the process of getting Melodyne to register in the Steam version of X3 Sonar that I took.

  • Procure the upgrade from Celemony. (You will receive your product key and a link to a download site as soon as your payment is processed. (which is almost instanteous))

  • Once the download was complete I extracted the zip file to a folder on my desktop and ran the SetUp program. (This was just to ensure I had the latest available download installed.)

_________
  • I selected the Modify option and let the process finish.

_________
  • When the install completed I launched Melodyne in PC Stand-a-lone mode by running the 64-bit version of the Melodyne singletrack.exe program found in my Program Files\Celemony\Melodyne singletrack Folder.

  • When Melodyne opened I selected Help and then License

_________
  • This presented me with the following screen, on which I selected "Enter Serial Number"

** Note this is also where you would select "Deactivate.." if you want to migrate your product from one computer to another. I have not tested Melodyne on different computers in the Steam environment yet. I don't know if you have to deactivate and reactivate the product if switching between machine. One would not think so if running through Steam as programs are registered to an user account and you can only log into a Steam account on one computer at a time. Then you can only run one instance of a program through Steam at a time. But one does not know... **

_________

  • This pops up the next screen that you enter your new serial key into. After clicking continue, the process connects with the Celemony servers and registers the program.

_________
  • After clicking continue, the process connects with the Celemony servers and registers the program.

_________
  • After the process is complete, Launch X3 Sonar through Steam, Load a Project, Select a Region on a track and assign it as a Region FX pointed at Melodyne, Open the Melodyne Editor, Select Help, then About and you should see that the Product now accesses Melodyne as the upgraded version you registered.

_________
  • I had thought that this would update my License info in the Steam Library, but found that Steam still displays my Essentials CD Key after the Upgrade, but as we can see, the Steam version of X3 Sonar is finding the Editor version of Melodyne.
