C&O F7A 7041

Description
Formed in 1869 the Chesapeake and Ohio was formed in the state of Virginia. Led by Collis Huntington the C&O ran from Richmond VA, to the Ohio River by 1873, where the town (now known as Huntington, WV) was named after him. Through the coal business, the C&O found new links reaching Columbus, Cincinnati, and Toledo in Ohio, and Chicago IL. In the early 1960s the C&O was headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. The C&O started jointly working with the Baltimore and Ohio in 1963, with the B&O having controlling interest over the Western Maryland. The three railroads were put together under the Chessie System name in 1972. On November 1, 1980, the Chessie System merged with Seaboard Family Lines to form CSX. They adopted their first paint scheme in 1986.

Since the introduction of the EMD F Unit, the C&O had several paint schemes. But like many other companies of the time, the C&O came to take on the paint scheme of dark blue and yellow.

This C&O F7A #7041 works well on any layout within the time span of 1963 to the late 1970s when the Chessie System stopped using F7s.

Thanks for checking out my model. Happy railroading!
