Getting the most out of 255 colors
The image I'm using for demo is a splice of two 4k wallpapers to get an image with a good variety of colors

First load the image into Gimp a free image editing software go to the image tab at the top and then mode -> indexed and change the settings to the image below you can change image dithering if you want. I would not recommend it for 4k images as coloring the image will have pixels more stippled/dithered.

export

After this you can export the image (file->export as) pick the save name and type and import it into coloring game 2

This is to show the difference on the new release of 255 colors with and without this change

Thanks for the update, as that is what I have always been doing :)

if anyone is still here, export as png because jpg or jpeg will compress adding colors and ruining the import. so if you import test.jpg make sure you export as test.png

Thank you so much. I can't stand the dithering on artwork I use for my game.

That being said, I 'd still recommend using it for any image.

I do want to mention that this fix does not need to be applied to all images, as there are some images (take the right side of the above image as an example) where changing the number of colors doesn't seem to change much if anything at all. It seems to only matter on some images, like those with a lot of different green colorings. I could be mistaken, but when I converted all of my images, most, if not all of them, had very few things changed with them.
