Be quiet during your team mates clutches
"I've seen this posted about more than once,
but after some of my recent MM experiences I feel
like it needs touching on again.

Be quiet during your team mates clutches.
If you absolutely need to talk, keep it to information
that will help your team mate including enemy tagged,
enemy location and what gun they might have.

1st round purchase - low and high rank comparison
Nearly 35% of players in silver
don't buy anything on the first round.

Economy mistakes are often
not mentioned in this sub despite
being very easy to fix.

My fav. comment by -DoesntGetJokes:

I remember when I was gold nova I saw lots of people do that. I think it's because they want an awp in the third round lmao

Hours played =/= skill
Some people need to hear this
"It's about mindful, correct, focused hours. 1000 hours of spraying and praying doesn't equate to 100 hours of focused, thoughtful tap fire. Long practice of bad habits is even more detrimental than no practice at all." ~TheGoatEmoji

"Some people don't understand that some people can be lem in 600 hours or less and some can be silver 3 with 2500 hours , it really doesn't matter.Your mentality , dedication and personal learning curve is what matters."
~MerioL

"This is true however hours are still a good indicator to skill, especially on average"
~AnalThrashing

"1400 hours silver 3 btw"

Mental health as factor in game performance
How OasisAnimates rank up 4 times in 20 days?

To keep it short, I was SE and I felt like I deserved
a higher rank. I looked up guides, tips, and tutorials
on the internet but most of what I read/watched on
YouTube was directed towards never players
who did not understand the mechanics of the game.

I couldn't seem to break the Silver barriers until
I stopped focusing on the mechanical aspects
of the game and started focusing on my mental
health/attitude
. Since then, I have climbed
the ranks from SE to GN3 in 20 days.

His advices:
  • Don't stress out about getting good teammates
  • Play the maps you win over 50% of the time on
  • If you have a bad game or get bad teammates, don't get upset
  • If you lose a game or get mad, don't play another match
until the next day or until you have calmed down
  • Try to find people to queue with that are the same or higher rank than you
  • If you start to experience burnout take a break from the game for a few days or weeks

Aim will be always inconsistent
CSGO is an incredibly first shot heavy game.
If you miss that shot you're going to be punished for it against a skilled player. I like to illustrate it as thinking of your aim as a first shot accuracy percentage. For a low level player it could be 15% for a pro maybe 65%.

Your aim will always seem "inconsistent" until you can hit something humanely impossible like having ~100% first shot accuracy percentage.
Rolling the dice
Until then you're always rolling the dice. This is why pros don't always win relatively causal global elite games. They rolled the dice and lost a few times consecutively which had enough of

an impact to lose the entire game. The solution is simple; train aim and perfect crosshair placement. Yet this is a painfully slow process. Good aim requires hundreds and hundreds of hours of consistent quality practice.

Improvements are there to finally showcase themselves. You win more duels, win more games and you're up a skill bracket.

What I learned on 2k hours of csgo
That is very valuable
but also long, so I sum up some bullet points for You - full text you can find on original post
  • Play ypracc maps, it's the best tool for learning crosshair placement
(Personal) Don't really play aimbotz, one taps are useless once you get to a high rank

  • Be confident, sometimes fear is not good

  • Invest in good gear. This game wasn't made to be played on 60hz.

  • There is no way to get good fast, DO NOT change your sensitivity, it ♥♥♥♥♥ up your muscle memory, pick something between 1.8 and 3 with 400 dpi and stick with it, trust me.

i Have noticed, that not so many people watch their demos
  • Watch your demos - be very critic on yourself, ask yourself, "Why did I die here? What could I do to change this? Was it my aim?

  • Get a premade, once you get 4 other players to play with, you eliminate toxicity and bad teammates not saying you can't soloQ your way to global or faceit lvl 10 or something, but it will be really harder.
  • When you learn something, write it down, trust me, you WILL forget

  • Greatness comes with time, there isn't a secret, just time and practice

  • Take blame for everything, you can't change your teammates decisions or way of playing, you can only change yours, once you understand this, it's so much easier to improve.

It is possible to reach Global by soloQ
What I´ve learnt by uploading my games to cs go stats gg is that seriously frags don´t matter. I can tell you that between mm, faceit and esea, mm system is the one that rewards more the people that play the game properly.

By playing the game properly I mean saving when you need to, droping when you have to, buying until the limit you can afford to not jeopardize the next round, trying to entry when the rest of the team is camping, trying to trade your nearby team mates, etc.

Frags are useless if they don´t help your team get rounds, seriously.
Maybe it´s all in my head, I don´t know, but if mm ranks would work only by win/loss ratio or stats, I wouldn´t have ranked up from supreme to global, so something behind the scenes must be there.

What are the basics for a silver player to work on besides aim?
When one practices aim we tend to focus too much on the hand of the mouse. The other hand is as important aswell and it´s good to start practicing with it since silver ranks. When you stop before firing try to stop as fast as you can, take the actions as fast and well performed as possible, don´t hesitate and shoot the first one or two bullets while you are still moving.

How long did it take and how many hours?
it took me 1828 competitive wins.

How many hours do you play everyday?
Minimum 5-6.
