Leírás
One year after the DM&G's V8s were repainted, the 400-class "side-rods" got their turn. This attractive oxide red scheme was designed for versatility: it matched the oxide-painted freight cars and, if need be, the "Mountain Gray" passenger equipment. In use into the 1970s, this was one of the longest-lived paint schemes on the DM&G.

No. 445 was one of the first batch of 400-classes, built in 1928 and retired in 1968. They were stored in Denver, awaiting scrapping, until 1973. That year, the OPEC oil crisis halted the railroad's diesel fleet and brought the old electric workhorses out of retirement. They were retired for the second and last time in 1980.

(A peek behind the curtain: this was the first DM&G livery I made, and now the last to upload before the jam ends. Funny how that works.)
