Introduction
In this guide I'll be listing startup procedures and nonstandard hotkeys of trains that I own.

For a full overview of all the keys you can just read the manuals, I'm writing this mostly as a quick reference for myself.

I'll be expanding this guide with more trains over time.

If you're having difficulty getting your train to move, check out this checklist: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1566264177
Updates to this guide
  • 23 March 2021: Published first version of the guide.
  • 28 March 2021: Added BR 218 & Bnrdzf cab car by VirtualRailroads
  • 25 December 2021: Minor additions and fixes.
  • 31 December 2023: Added U-Bahn Hamburg HHA Type DT5
Standard & "German style" hotkeys
Train Simulator has different hotkeys depending on what language the game is in. This guide is in English, and I play the game in English, so keep in mind that your experience can be different if you play in German or another language.

On top of that, German rolling stock not from DTG tends to use slightly different hotkeys for common features, even when the game is played in English. For example, this applies to Expert-Line trains from Virtual Railroads and trains from Railworks Austria:

Space
SIFA
Delete
PZB Befehl 40
End
PZB Frei
Page Down
PZB Wachsam
B
Horn
N
Other horn
Shift + 7
Enable/Disable SIFA
Shift + 8
Enable/Disable PZB
Shift + 6
Enable/Disable LZB

These make sense considering you need to press SIFA a lot more often than the horn.

When using the Bnrdzf cab car

IBIS
You need to enter the following:
  • Kurs: A number between 1 and 12. Effectively meaningless in the simulator.
  • Linie: Line number, precede with 9, e.g. U5 = 95
  • Ziel: You enter TWO numbers here. First is origin, followed by destination. e.g. 709 for Hbf, then 726 for Preungesheim.

The buttons to the left of the number panel are for scrolling through the stops. They're organized like this from top to bottom:
  • Fast forward next stop
  • Next stop
  • Previous stop
  • Fast forward previous stop

I'm basing all this on the version sold by JustTrains.

Startup procedure
Press F. Wait for the train to start up. Then use the mouse to press the button labeled "Übernahme" on the touch screen monitor on the right. You're now ready to drive.

Most things are set up with the mouse, such as the radio and destination display. Codes for the destination display are listed on the wall on your right. Even the driving direction is switched with the touch screen monitor on your right.

Go to FIS(ELA) and then press ZZA (Zugzielanzeige) to set the destination display. Use the buttons above and below the list to scroll through it. The button above ZZA, with the H between two arrows, is used to set the current station.

Thanks for your feedback!

I made this guide mostly for myself, but published it in case others might find it useful.

The only trains I'll mention are the trains that I keep having to look up the keys for.

Got small feedback:

Could you please add like a screenshot of what train is what? Not only am i not a super train fan to know they names off by heart so pictures could be very useful for this kinda guild for those who are like me who enjoy trains and train simulators but don't go full geek like mode about them aka learn them all.

Only ones i really know are the HST 125 BR Class 465 BR Class 47. The 465 is just the train i really grow up with miss the networker livery.

Also is that gonna be the full list as you seem to of stopped adding trains onto this list?
