GGX-ish Shader Mod (All Weapons + Accessories)

Description
*UPDATE #2*
Adjusted all weapons/optics/accessories to be brighter and more reflective. They should still look great in bright areas, but they will now have more definition & detail in darker areas. If you still find the weapons too dark for you, check out the *updated* brighter version of the mod here: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2461661195

*UPDATE #1*
After much testing, I have finally found a way to increase the lighting on weapons when they were at their darkest--with the sun behind you. This gives the weapons a nice pop where before they had very little interaction with light. The weapons will still look the same as before in all other light conditions. You may need to un-sub and then re-sub in order for the update to take effect.

This mod improves the default shaders for every weapon, optic, and accessory in the game. The goal was to create a GGX-like appearance without actually using GGX shaders. GGX can look extremely realistic, but unfortunately almost all the GGX mods out there seem to have issues...too shiny, too dry, too washed out, etc. Sure, they look amazing 10% of the time, but this mod should look great all the time.

So what did I do, exactly? I made the weapons more matte (no more spit shine), added rim lighting (which adds some fun light reflections at the right angle), and darkened the texture colors to make weapons less grey/more black. The end result is a realistic GGX look that brings out details in the textures that you never knew were there. I also updated all the world model shaders, because we all deserve better world models!

Enjoy!

Ok, that's good to know. Thanks!

Just wanted to ask a quick question, this mod should work with any mod that changes your FOV or view angle, right? I know that this mod only changes the textures of weapons, and I don't think that any FOV mod should alter the weapon textures in any way. Just wanted to make sure is all.

in my opinion, sounds great! cheers!

Cool, I figured that would be the case. I'm thinking that I'll release the lighter version as a WIP. I'll probably do a quick fix to the colors to brighten everything up, and then I can just do updates as I find time to improve the lighting.

tried it out, and definitely looks a lot better than it used to before. while it is in my opinion still a tad too dark, it is at a point where i would keep the addon subscribed for now.

in verticality for example, the weapons tend to still have a resemblance to black holes pretty much everywhere in the map, but i guess this will be improved in the lighter version ))

@Sir. Barnaby
Check out the update--it addresses the "black hole" issue. The weapons may still be too dark for your taste, but I'm already doing testing on a lighter version of the mod that actually looks promising!
