EMD E6 Southern Railway Southerner

The Southern Railway was a class 1 railroad based in the Southern United States between 1894 and 1982, when it merged with the Norfolk & Western to form Norfolk Southern. The railroad was the product of nearly 150 predecessor lines that were combined, reorganized and recombined beginning in the 1830s, formally becoming the Southern Railway in 1894.

This train is modeled after the "Southerner" Passenger train which ran between New York City, NY and New Orleans, LA. The locomotive is modeled after the EMD E6 passenger locomotive in the gorgeous Southern Railway Scheme.


Now a note on this train. Because this train ran through the southern US in the 1940s it has some unique aspects that the rest of my trains don't have. There is 1 segregated passenger coach car. The 900 "South Carolina" Coach car is unique as it has 2 doors for segregated purposes. It was a 4 vestibule car with one section for African American passengers.

While I like to look back on the amazing history of these trains and infrastructure of the time compared to today there are some dark aspects of it that aren't often thought of when looking back. It's important to look back with perspective to see how far we have come as a society and how far we still have left to go.


Comes with automatic engine reverse feature: spawns the engine in front of the direction the train goes. comes with custom sound effects for movement and horn.
imported with a prototype mod to reduce the texture compression in game so the file size is large

Train functions as a regular passenger train but due to its length some additional consideration might be needed when setting up passenger stations for it. Consult the "How to use very long passenger trains, building station complex" by REV0
