Stalemate (Map)

Stalemate was a war front almost entirely forgotten by the Imperium. It's records were scorched from the imperial records. Even though it's has become an infamous name. Few in the Imperium truly know what happened on Stalemate. Stalemate was once an outlaw planet but was enveloped by the Imperium in 665.M38 not much later the planet fell into chaos mainly because a cult of chaos worshippers known as Tzeentch's Crowned. The cult had already made a foothold on stalemate as early as 741.M37 They had entangled themselves throughout the greatest governing body of this outlaw planet. Their plan was mainly focused on pushing their influence throughout the galaxy by converting more and more imperial citizen. Once their primary leader was discovered and executed by Inquistor Noctural the entire planet rose in defence. Most citizen didn't know this Imperium nor the malevolent forces at work. They only saw one of their more revered figures being executed with no trial or proper reasoning. What followed was a war of attrition. The planet population, mercenaries and the Tzeentch's crowned private militia, Their private miltia, The Children of Progress on 1 side and the Imperium and it's local guard regiment on the other. This war dragged on for years until 685.M38. That year reïnforcements from Krieg arrived turning the tide and giving the Imperium the upper hand. In 686.M38 the planet was designated for exterminatus after Inquisitor Noctural had reported the planet as follows:

What he forgot to mention was that multiple Krieg regiments and Cadian regiments had only recently been deployed on sight. Around 7 Billion guard perished on 277.686.M38. This massive loss of forces and live destabilised the region. The Imperium was forced to retreat and lost up to 28 star systems in process. The wider imperium and primarily the Inquisition and the Lords of Terra have tried to erase this mistake from the records.
