Intro
Just so you know, you are not the first person to complain about this.
And as such I feel the need to have a pre-written response for as such situation,
as I see about 30 of these per day.

If you have a suggestion to be added, just post a comment, I read all of them.
The facts
1. valve will not lift any cooldowns.

2. If cooldowns were not in place, people would abuse matchmaking and leave at the first sign of the match going badly.

3. It is not your right to play competitive on their servers,
you paid for the game, not the servers. There are alternatives such as alt-pug, and esea that offer better 128 tick servers anyway.

The cooldown system is not perfect, and I'm not playing damage control for valve,
the game dose have quite a few big issues. However without a system in-place that punishes people who leave games, kill teammates, and go AFK, people would abuse the system, and it would make competitive play much worse.
The System
Yes, I feel it is broken, accidental team sniping, power outages, bathroom breaks, and people at the door are all real thing that DO happen. However, all of those things could be faked, you just close the game, unplug your pc, leave to make a sandwich (yes, I've had people do that...) and more. Because of this there is no real way to tell a real problem on the users end, from a fake one.
With the current system in place, the first offense is a 30min cooldown, second is a 2hour, 3rd is a 24hour, then finally 4th is the infamous 7day ban. After 7 days(without an abandon) you are move back a cooldown level,
so if you were at 24hr last time, and get one more disconnect 8 days later, you only get a 24hr, and not a 7day ban.

The way this is setup, you can have a power outage/pc crash, every 8th day for a year, and never get more then a 30min ban.
If you find your pc crashing more then that, this it's probably an issue with your pc, get it checked out,
How to stay in the game
The most common issues that forces someone out of the game is the gaming crashing.

-It could be bad drivers, a bad update, or a registry error.
-If you're having trouble with getting connected, or with lag (due to choke) it's probably an issue with your internet. (loss is a server problem)
-If you're getting FPS lag update your video card drivers, and lower the game quality.
-Be mindful of your teammates positions, if there too close DO NOT SHOOT!
-Never kill a teammate in spawn(or in the first couple seconds of the round) as that can be considered spawn killing
-Make sure you have someone else home if you're expecting a package/vistior.
-If you have to leave real quick, LET YOUR TEAM KNOW, if it's only for one round, they may be ok with it.
-If you're getting errors about specifc files such as XXXXX.vpk or something, then verifiy your game cace (twice if needed) then try out a bots game on the same map to make sure it's fixed.
Fixing the system
I think the cool down level is very reasonable even if your game crashes twice in one week, the worst you'll have is 2hours with game time. Even if it crashes again 8days later, boom, one more 2 hour cooldown. That seems reasonable, as I said more crashing means something is wrong with your pc!
My main issue with this system is, it only gives you 3mins to reconnect. Some older pc's take longer then that to boot up. Especially if you had a full system crash. Imo, it should be the same cooldown system, but with 8 mins to reconnect, but after 5mins, the team can vote to surrender,
if they do surrender before the player reconnects, then it counts as an abandon.

^^but that's not up to me.
On their servers, you have to play by their rules,
Closing
I know this is worded a bit harshly, but that's just how it is!
AND YES, I know sometimes you get steam errors, and 'not connected to matchmaking'
and the 'No connection' error
Normally flushing the DNS cache
[Windows key] + R
then in the box typing:
ipconfig /flushdns

then pressing OK, followed by switching to the 'Store' Tab of Steam, normaly works for me,
but you may have to fully close steam from the menu: 'Steam' -> 'Exit'

Hopefully this guide will clue you in on how to avoid getting cooled down,
and why such a harsh system is inplace.

See you on the battlefeild!

No, you got banned for 7 days because you were kicked enough before that for that singular kick to cause a ban. Not to mention you had to get banned 3 other times to get your ban timer to 7 days in the first place.

The thing is, you fail to mention anything about the bans relating to kicking too many people - I've been stuck with a few 7 day bans because we have an afk, or a trolling player and my team decides to kick. And I have an additional question, which others may have: do different offenses carry over? For example, if I kick too many players one match, and earn a 30 minute ban, does killing too many teammates or going afk give me a 24-hour ban, or just a 30 minute ban?

Its funny how this game is unplayable and no one cares. I even cant play my teammates and get kicked so i have to play very cautious to not get baned. How can i play this game if im frustrated with the rules. If someone kicks a player its ok if i get baned for 30 minutes because i loose rank, but why i get a cooldown too? This game is a nightmare. I play this game only because sometimes there are some good server to play on and thats it. Its awful how Gaben plays a psycho game with people to get happy just because he doesnt have a talent to get fun by something else. And i think he does that to show people he is a psychopath to show stupid people its cool.

Btw i've got 7d bans for about 4 weeks. Is anybody at that number
Lofka 14 Jan, 2017 @ 1:45pm
Well, I consider the seven day ban to be quite annoying, it would be smart of Valve if they didn't take so hard on just the one week ban. For example if they would add at least one day less everytime you get two or more bans in a row.
