4.0*

Note: I use this mod in my own games, so if the version number is not updated, that is because its not causing any issues in my games; If you find issues in your game because of this mod, please leave a comment and Ill look into it. Thanks!

This mod aims to limit the origins the AI can use, it is a simple edit to the origin.txt file that sets the weights of a few origins to 0 for the AI.

These origins include; Lost Colony, Scion, Hegemon, Common Ground, and more recently, Void Dweller, and Doomsday
One other similar origin, Imperial Fiefdom, thankfully already has its weight set to 0.
Broken Shackles and Payback also have a weight of 0, and are not selected through random.

updated so it shows its compatible with 4.0

That explains why in my games I have seen, empire no longer exists and I have been wondering why that would happen. (I thought they spawned next to a Xeno Fallen Empire but more likely they had dooms day start). I will be using this mod.

@Sir Squirrelsalot
Both shackles and payback have their random-weight set the 0, so they do not spawn randomly from what I can tell. I will be adding doomsday to the list though. While it is funny to see an AI self destruct, my goal with this mod is to create a more balanced game, so getting rid of that is a good idea.

An Update will be posted soon adding that origin to the list.

@Space Cowgirl Supreme
I am unable to replicate your issue, hosting three large galaxies with 12 empires with this mod enabled yeilded no federated starts. I can only suspect that some mod is somehow interfearing with this mod, or you need to unsubscribe and re-subscribe to the mod to make sure it is installed properly.

Been playing a few games and I've been getting the federated AI spawns in abundance. Has an update messed with some of the origin flags or something? I've got this mod loaded so that it overwrites any others.

Remove broken shackles and payback? Since those also span an advanced empire and make two empires really under strengthened.

Also might want to removing doomsday since the AI just can't use it worth beans and it's also really disappointing to capture their homework then find out why they were doing terribly because they turned it into a FARM.

Basically AI shouldn't use challenging origins.

Just wasted several hours starting and playing the early game of a Devouring Swarm only to encounter a Hegemon blob as my first neighbour... Boop, war, dead, several hours completely wasted because RNG. Definitely using this mod when I can be arsed to start this stupid game (that I love) up again.

@captain403
That's outside the scope of this mod, though you'll be delighted to know there seems to be plenty of mods which prevent that civic from being selected by the AI
captain403 22 Feb, 2023 @ 4:46am
Can you add the civic 'criminal heritage' to the list of no-no's please?
Sidewinder Fang 22 Jan, 2023 @ 8:04am
Thanks for this, hegemon and common ground AI's annoy me the way they always bunch up unevenly.
Ultimuh 22 May, 2022 @ 8:54am
Ah, good to know. Thanks for the swift reply though.
