E4M1: Hell Beneath
Secrets

Official

1. Drop into the nukage pool ahead of you at the start of the level. Press the use key on the end of the platform to the right to lower it, exposing a hidden tunnel with a rocket launcher at its end. Open the wall to the left of the rocket launcher to reveal a room with a pair of teleporters. Each takes you to a corresponding ledge near the level's beginning.

2. In the room behind the red door, make your way left around the rectangular structure and press the use key on the torch. This unleashes some Barons and lowers the rectangular structure, uncovering a hidden "NIИ" logo. Walking on the ground close to the logo triggers the secret and may also trap you inside for a short time. Note that the logo is removed in console versions of Doom that feature this map, probably due to copyright concerns (except for the DOOM BFG edition).

Non-official:

1. There is a hidden door on the opposite side of the red key room (north wall) that allows access back onto the outside ledge.

2. The switch just south of the red key room lowers the walls inside the room when they are raised. [NOTE: This is the only way to escape so it cannot be missed]

3. It's actually possible to lower the lift to secret #1 while standing on it, by backing right up to the eastern edge of the platform and pressing use. This prevents you from taking any damage in the acid pit, which is very important in this extremely difficult level.

E4M2: Perfect Hatred
Secrets

Official

1. In the smaller, isolated lava pit in the southwest of the level, drop into the lava and flip the switch to raise a bridge. Step into the small triangle of lava next to the switch to open an exit out of this pit. At the top of the stairs is a teleporter. Open the wall to the left just before the teleporter; behind it is a secret cache. The right wall at the back of the secret room also opens, and you can take the other side of the teleporter to a separate secret room.

2. After opening the blue "door", run up the stairs and across the raised platform with the Cyberdemon guarding it until you hear the sound of a door opening behind you. Run back down to the lower wooden platforms, and a teleporter will have appeared. Go through it to telefrag the Cyberdemon, saving you a lot of work. Pick up the BFG and lower the wall in front of you to exit.

3. Secret exit: Upon lowering the wall to exit secret 2, a wall back down in the western wall of the main lava pit will lower temporarily. Quickly run into the opening to reach the exit to E4M9 Fear. If you miss it, you must take the teleporter and try again.

Non-official

1. Getting the plasma gun opens the yellow key alcove, and another alcove south of the yellow key. Pressing the eastern edge of this alcove reveals a hidden switch that raises the central part of the floor in the main lava pool, allowing you to have more space without falling into the lava pit.

2. In (Official) secret #1, the secret teleporter angle takes you to a ledge with a combat armor and a box of rockets. From there, you can also grab the BFG9000 by running into the northeastern wall. If you run toward the wall at the right position, then you can grab the BFG9000 early. [NOTE: You can possibly skip the blue gate by falling off, but to get the BFG you just have to run toward the wall where the torch is located.]

E4M9: Fear (Secret level)
Secrets

1. Once in the large circular room in the south, go through the door to the west and continue right up the stairs. After passing through the next door, turn around and open the differently textured wall just left of it. Inside is a berserk pack.

2. Open the wall directly across from the exit switch to get a backpack.

E4M3: Sever the Wicked
Secrets

1. From the start, drop onto the ground in front of you and head down through the staircase. In the next room, take the upward staircase and continue along the hall until you reach a lion-faced door. Before you reach it, a door in the corner behind you (you also can open this door manually) will open, unleashing some enemies, but also allowing you to get some goodies.

2. (X) In the wooden room at the far south of the map (where the red skull key lowers to) is an alcove in the west. There are four torches here, the two easternmost of which are standing on secret sectors. Unfortunately, you cannot get credit for the secrets, if you really need them, type idspispopd and walk directly through either torch.

3. Do the same for the other torch.

4. Open the wall to the north (opposite side of the switch) to access a secret area. This is actually several secrets in one - not only the entrance to the room is a secret, but also the top room and ALL 19 steps are tagged as secrets! Make sure you have stepped on all of them without skipping one to get credit for each secret!

E4M4: Unruly Evil
Secrets

1. In the second room, take the elevator up and continue left around the walkway until you reach a green torch. Press it to lower the floor you're standing on. Continue through two archways to get a berserk pack.

2. Return to the green torch and press it again, but only pass through the first archway. The floor in the second room will raise along with the first lift, taking you up to a rocket launcher.

E4M5: They Will Repent
Secrets

Official

1. Go through the red door in the same room where the red key is found. In the following area, open the 45-degree-angle wall to reveal a small secret closet.

2. Just before the yellow door is a narrow river of blood you must cross. Follow this to the left and open the gargoyle-faced wall. Open the wall to the left (with the gap in the bottom) in the next small room to get a berserk pack.

Non-official

1. When you enter the room with the red key from the south entrance, the pillar to your right can be lowered for a box of rockets.

E4M6: Against Thee Wickedly
Secrets

1. To the northwest outside where the blue key is visible, is a fake wall. Passing it allows access to a plasma rifle.

2. The south of the lava river is a secret door. Open it to access a secret room with some Spectres and an invisibility. There is also a platform that you can lower and ride to the top to access a soul sphere, and jumping into the outside is the only way to get back there without being confined to the lava parts.

3. The lava pool to the north of this level can only be escaped by a hidden door to the southwest of it. Open it and follow the route to get back to the north of the lava river. That is also a secret door, you can also access it this way from there. There is also a box of rockets and a metal door somewhere. Behind the metal door is the Baron of Hell room with the switch and that marble wall, that familiar area when getting the yellow key. [Translation: Identical to secret #2 but different enemies including a Baron, and different pick-ups]

E4M7: And Hell Followed
Secrets

1. Open either of the yellow doors to the southwest/southeast of this map (the lion-faced walls) into a wooden room. To the south of the middle of it is a secret door. Open it to access health and alert a Baron of Hell (ITYTD, HNTR, or HMP), or access a rocket launcher, soul sphere and an invulnerability sphere alerting a Cyberdemon (UV and NM).

2. Press the skull switch in the alcove on the opposite side of secret #1. It will open up a secret to the southeast containing rockets and a mega armor. There are two other skull switches in this secret that open up the yellow doors leading to this room, permanently.

3. (X) To the northeast (opposite) of secret #1 is a secret door (inside the alcove, turn left). Open it to access an invulnerability sphere. Unfortunately you cannot get credit for this secret when playing normally because the door is a secret and it is too thin for you to fit into. The only way to get credit for this secret is to use idspispopd or idclip to get your way through the door.

4. (X) The floor with the invulnerability in secret #3 is also uncreditable because it is too high for you to get on. Nevertheless, the idspispopd or idclip cheat code will allow you to get on the floor and get credit for this secret.

E4M8: Unto the Cruel
Secrets

Official

1. The area you start in contains six alcoves along the outer wall with tortured corpses in them. Press the spacebar on the left center one to open a nearby secret item cache.

Non-official

1. In the main room, the west and east faces of the "green main pillar", obviously disconsidering the yellow and red "doors", are actually 2 secret caches, each one hiding medikits, protected from inside by Shotgun Guys on skills levels 1 and 2, Cacodemons on 3, or Barons of Hell on 4 and 5.

2. In the wooden-walled rooms, at the very spot where you grab the yellow skull key, press the wall directly behind it. Take the teleporter it hides and it'll warp you onto the C-shaped side platform (which has a Shotgun Guy "patrolling" it) at the east end of the map, just east of the bridge that connects the "caged" rooms.

3. At the final room, where you battle the Spiderdemon, just south of the entrance you'll notice a detached portion of the wall. It hides a teleporter that warps you back to the wooden-walled rooms - precisely the one where you find a soul sphere, right after obtaining the yellow skull key.

4. In the final room of the map, right behind the Spider Mastermind's starting point, there is a secret alcove in the wall that hides a BFG 9000 and two energy cell packs. These can come in handy when facing the boss and its hordes of demons. In this same room, there are also a soul sphere and a megaarmor atop two pillars. You can simply get close and hit the spacebar to lower them and collect these items.

SI6IL
Congratulations you beat Ultimate DOOM, but did you? Well, the add-on Sigil was designed by Romero Games: SIGIL was designed by id co-founder and lead designer of DOOM and DOOM II, John Romero, to celebrate DOOM's 25th anniversary. Created as an unnoficial sequel to Ultimate DOOM, SIGIL follows DOOM's fourth episode, Thy Flesh Consumed, and is designed to be even more difficult - with a heavy emphasis on Satanic imagery.
