Day 1 onwards (Early Game)
1.Manage your visibility and fireplace

Keep visibility very very low. Otherwise, enemies will find you at night. Especially in early game, the fireplace is the biggest attractor for enemies.

The cold is not going to be a big factor in the early game. Just keep cooking soup & stew, and make the occasional cold balm.

Keep your fireplace at 10-20% at most if no enemies are around.

Fireplace at 0% if enemies are around. If you have to cook, light up the fire and turn it off again.

2.Drink every day. Always keep thirst at 0

In this game, you get less action points with every 3 negative statuses. Thirst is one of them. If you leave it above 10, you'll get thirsty overnight and one extra pointless negative status.

3.Upgrade your fireplace quick for food & water

Upgrading the fireplace gives you cooked food, which feeds hunger a lot more efficiently than just raw fruits and mushrooms. I recommend making exclusively soup, stew and mushroom soup in the early game.

4.Grab charcoal and build the best water filter by day 2

Go to the red marked zone on day 2 and get 1 charcoal. Reload if you don't get it.

Water will be a very big factor early game. You need 4 water to drink every day. And another 4 water to make soups & stews. So, you'll need about 8 water every day.

With the first water filter, you only get 3 water per action point. With the second filter, you get 6 water per action point. With filter 1, you'll be spending 3 action points per 1 day for water. With filter 2, you'll be spending 3 action points every 2 days for water. Those extra action points will make a big difference in the early game.

5.Upgrade the rest area by day 2 to rest more units

By day 2, you should already be able to rest 2 people. And as soon as you start hunting and getting fur, upgrade to rest 3 people fast.

6.If you can't cook certain raw foods, eat them raw before they expire

Much better than letting them go to waste.

7.Eat only 1 tree bark/moss per day and avoid indigestion

You won't get indigestion for the first bark you eat. Cumulatively, you can save a lot of food for the first few days if you just give everyone one tree bark per day.

8.Rags, canvases & strings are valuable long term. Do event quests as late as possible.

Rags, canvases & strings are mostly found in the south in the train zone. When you do event quests, you'll end up luring a lot of enemies to patrol the train zone and you'll be cut off from your main source of cloth. Try to dig up at least 4 canvases before you start doing event quests.

9.Only palisade is the worthwhile fence upgrade

Snares only give one small animal for one action point. Brushwood gathering gives you very little wood for one action point. You might as well just explore. Only upgrade the palisade for the fence section.
Day 8 - 15 (Mid game)
Rush the hatchet for wood and hunting

To get the hatchet, you need the Tier 1 upgrades for the workshop. It gives you more wood when processing logs and branches. Plus, you can bring it for hunting animals and it will bring a good chance of success.

Reload if you can't find animals when hunting

Once you get the hatchet, you should start hunting immediately for easy meat and fur. Explore around for animals. Their positions are fixed. So, if you can't find any, just reload.

Optional tools are awesome. Build them.

Knives, hammers, shovels, and hatchets are great for getting more mileage out of your giant resources. They'll make a big difference the earlier you get them. More strings, rags, cut rocks, sticks, planks are always welcome.

Go straight for warm, durable clothes by day 16. Ignore lower quality clothes.

Farm lots of furs, strings rags. Skip the lower quality clothes. You won't need them.
Day 16 onwards (Late game)
By day 18, always keep the quality at above 80% for all of the buildings you have.

If they're low, you can get really bad events which can force you to amputate.

Fraternise only when you're really free - Day 20 onwards usually

It unlocks relationships, which then unlocks stories.
Optional
Send people exploring when making makeshift furniture

When building makeshift furniture, you only lose respect if the other characters are around to see it. Send them exploring, switch back to the camp when they're away, and build away.

Bring in Edward Grey for a free rifle event

The rifle is the most powerful weapon in game, and Edward's event will give you one for free. It'll be super valuable for "The Final Showdown" scenario.
