The VTubing stuff has a bit of its' roots tied to JPop Idol culture, "graduation" is just a fancy term that started with an 1980s band that has a school club theme, Onyanko Club, when they did their final concert.

When a Vtuber is giving credit to the illustrator/modeler/modeler, they use the term "Mama" (or "Papa") as referring to them."
